She is survived by her loving parents Andrew and Ashly Snyder of Fennimore, WI; maternal grandparents, Michael & Christine Engelhardt; paternal grandparents, Johnie and Trina Snyder; maternal great grandparents, Melvin and Wendy Carlson; Jack and Rebecca Engelhardt; paternal great grandparents, Don and Bernadette (Abing) Williams; Darrell and Eleanor Snyder; many loving aunts and uncles and four cousins.

    Amelia was preceded in death by Leo Abing (Great grandfather) and Connie Silvers (Great Aunt).

    An intimate service was held on Monday, May 22, 2017 at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory, Lancaster, for immediate family.

  • She died on 22 October 2016 at age 84 Lorraine M. VanNatta of Potosi, age 84, passed away peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at Orchard Manor in Lancaster, Wisconsin on October 22nd, 2016. She is survived by her husband Robert E. VanNatta, Potosi, her sister June Ruchti of Stockdale, Texas, four children, Eugene VanNatta of Lancaster, Luann Cauthorn (Jonathan Cauthorn) of Brooklyn, Wisconsin, Susan McClure (James McClure) of Farmer City, Illinois, and Alan VanNatta of Potosi. She has seven grandchildren, Nathan Clancy (Kathleen), Joshua Clancy, Daniel Clancy, Christopher Cauthorn, Jeremiah Cauthorn (Kelly), Nicole Fuhrmeister (Todd) and Carrie Cauthorn. She also has five great grandchildren, Eleanor and Abigail Clancy, Henry and Wyatt Cauthorn (twins) and Nathaniel Fuhrmeister, along with two more great grandchildren soon on the way. She was preceded in death by her brother Merle Pettit and her parents, Fred and Carrie Pettit, all of Lancaster.

    She was born on July 2, 1932 in the Lancaster area. She grew up attending a number different country schools and graduated from the Lancaster High School in 1950. After graduation she worked at the Burgess Battery factory in Platteville. In September of 1951 she met Robert VanNatta and they were later married on April 5th, 1953. They first lived in the Potosi area on the family farm and started their family before moving to Lancaster. In 1961 they moved back to the family farm near Potosi to live and farm as their family grew. Lorraine loved flower gardening and her pets, especially her Black Lab Buddy whom she found comfort in these past few years. She enjoyed raising ducks, geese, chickens and even some sheep over the years. She loved the Lord and attended the First Baptist Church in Lancaster from childhood and later became a member there. She served the Lord humbly, helping out wherever needed. She spent time reading her Bible each night and raising her children to know and love the Lord. Lorraine and Robert were married 63 years. She will be dearly missed by all her family and friends, but her memory will be held close to our hearts.

    Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Community Church, 9175 Old Potosi Rd, Lancaster, Wisconsin on Saturday, October 29th. Visitation was at the church from 9 am to 11 am followed by a short memorial service and then a meal. Interment will be at Boice Prairie Cemetery with the family at a later date.

  • Roger E. VanNatta died on 18 May 2014 at age 80 Roger E. VanNatta, age 80, of Stitzer, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2014, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. He was born on August 27, 1933, in Lancaster, the son of Earl and Irene (Jeidy) VanNatta. Roger graduated from Lancaster High School in 1951. He served his country in Korea as a medic from December 11, 1956, until his honorable discharge on October 31, 1958. Roger was a self-employed dairy farmer in rural Lancaster until he retired in 1997 to rural Stitzer. On April 23, 1988, Roger was united in marriage to Lillian Freese. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster. Roger was an avid fisherman and hunter, loved his beagles, woodworking, planting sweet corn, singing, bird watching, playing Euchre and visiting with his family and friends.

    Survivors include his loving wife, Lillian; two sisters: Karen (Steven) Keune; Ruth Wepking; one brother, Bruce VanNatta; five step-children: Daniel Freese; Debra (Todd Werner) Jakel; Doris (Gary) Kruse; Donna (David) Miller; David (fianc Lisa) Freese; twelve grandchildren; seven nieces and nephews.

    In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Stan Wepking.

    Memorial services with military honors were held on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Family and friends called on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster is assisting the family.

    Marlene was born on February 23, 1956 in Lancaster, Wisconsin, the daughter of Gerald and Geraldine (Fritz) Reuter. She was united in marriage to Richard Allen on December 22, 1977 in Lancaster. Marlene worked as a CNA for quite a few years, beginning at Pine Valley Manor, then Orchard Manor for a number of years, and then she worked for Homeward Bound doing private care. After working as a CNA, Marlene went to school to become a truck driver. She then went to work for Tschiggfrie Excavating in Dubuque, Iowa, where she worked for 10 years. She and Rick also ran the Potosi American Legion for a couple years before she went to work with Rick at Grantland Safety Inspections. Marlene enjoyed quilting, baking, flowers, and fishing; she could sit on the river bank for hours and fish, and would just be happy to be there, even if the fish weren’t biting. She also enjoyed her many fish tanks at her home. But most of all, Marlene loved her family, especially her grandchildren.


    Marlene is survived by her husband of 40 years, Rick; three daughters, Megen (Charles) Kinyon, Bobbi (Michael) Brown, and Betty-Jo Allen; five grandchildren, Taylor Vergeront, Elijah Kelly, Kami Kedley, Destiny Brown, and Colby Brown; seven siblings, Sally (Vincent) Loeffelholz, Marilyn (Robert) Ward, Randy (Jane) Reuter, Junior (Ruth) Reuter, Rod (Joan) Reuter, Rockie (Brenda) Reuter, and Roland (Chris) Reuter; mother-in-law, Darlene Henry; step-mother-in-law, Susan Allen; six brothers and sisters-in-law, Dennis (Dee) Allen, James (Hatsumi) Allen, Marty (Karie) Allen, Kay (Dave) Dean, Dale (Lisa) Allen, and April Allen; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law, Dale Allen; son, Jason Kelly on June 11, 2016; brothers-in-law, Roger and Bob Allen; and nephew, Austin Reuter.
