Douglas was born on December 12, 1938 in Ipswitch, the son of Anton “Tony” and Maude (Dieter) Vondra. He was united in marriage to Bonna J. Hoffman on August 30, 1958 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Platteville. Doug graduated from Platteville High School in 1956. He served in the United States Army from 1960 – 1962 and was stationed in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Doug worked for over 30 years at Eastman Cartwright in Platteville, as a carpenter. He loved fishing and spending time with family. He enjoyed watching the Badgers and Packers and his police scanner was always by his side.

Doug is survived by his wife of 61 years, Bonna J. Vondra; son, Jason (Samara Bilich) Vondra; daughter, Elizabeth (Terry) Runde; grandchildren, Collin (Samantha Albright) Vondra, Dylan (Sadie Roe) Vondra, Jackie and Mark Runde; great-grandchildren, Emmersyn and Addison Vondra and soon to be, Amelia Rose Vondra; two brothers, Cletus “Clete” Vondra and Norm (Norma) Vondra; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Arlyn, sisters, Janette and husband, Keith Stanton and Delores and husband, John Margan and sister-in-law, Janet Vondra.

Prem, age 84, of Spring Green, rose up to Heaven, leaving his suffering behind. Tony was born May 12, 1935, on Mother’s Day, to Joseph and Catherine Prem. Through it all, Tony maintained his quiet ways, his quirky smile, delightful sense of humor and great love for his family.

Tony’s life was filled with many journeys, from owning and operating Tony Prem Well Drilling to being co-owner of The Shed for many years. He loved his numerous travels, including Germany, his ancestors’ home, Israel, and of course Belize for fishing. He was a Veteran in the U.S. Army and a member of the Plain American Legion Post 398 and Olson-Ewing VFW Post 9336. He built countless memories with great friends, whether playing cards, sitting quietly reminiscing or fishing, Tony was always the one with the intent gleam in his eye as he contemplated his strategy. Tony was also a wonderful gardener.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Randeen Prem; their two sons, Scott (Peg), and Marc; two grandchildren, Matthew and Megan; brothers, Joseph (Karen), Mike (Mary), Andy (Rosie), Bill (Sandy); sisters, Catherine (Larry) McDonald, Martha Erickson, and Dorothy (David) Gorman; sisters-in- law, Mary Prem and Lynn (Jack) Meister; along with many nieces and nephews.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Clara, and Mary Brings, and brother Edward, along with brothers-in-law Bernard Brings and Rudy Erickson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Spring Green. Fr. John Silva will officiate with burial in the church cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Plain American Legion Post #398 and Olson-Ewing VFW Post 9336. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday, September 23, 2019 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.

Marlene enjoyed the people she worked with and stayed friends with many of them after her retirement. The greatest love of her life were her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her son, Jerome Joseph “Jerry” Carmody of Spring Green, 2 daughters, Jacqueline (Terry) Carter of Avoca, Carla Carmody of Spring Green, 2 grandchildren, Michelle and Jon Carter both of Avoca, her twin sister, Marilyn Kessenich of Avoca, a sister-in-law, Catherine Rogers of Spring Green, many nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Gladys Haller, her husband, Jerome Joseph Carmody Sr., a grandson, Jeffrey Carter , a sister-in-law, Florentine Alt, 5 brothers-in-law, John Alt, George Rogers, Donald Kessenich, Michael Carmody Sr. and Cecil Sickels.

He was born on July 23, 1931 in Franklin Township, the son of Joseph and Catherine (Lehner) Prem. Ed was married to the former Mary Hochstein on September 11, 1958 and they were fortunate to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary last September, with one last dance to the Blue Skirt Waltz.

He was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed a long career as the postmaster of Loganville, with the added perks of daily $.25 ice cream cones from Dave’s general store and euchre games at lunch with fellow townspeople.

Ed strongly valued family, service and community engagement. He served as the Treasurer for the Town of Franklin for 56 years and was also a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Plain, the Plain American Legion Post #398, the Arena VFW Post #9336, the 40 Et 8 and the Catholic Order of Foresters. He was proud of serving in the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict and received the Purple Heart for his service.

He loved fishing, hunting, walking in the woods and telling the same jokes over and over. He could sit for hours in a fishing boat or on his Allis-Chalmers tractor seat, content to be outside.

Gramps was happiest with a grandchild on his lap, and spent countless hours teaching them to fish, playing cards and games with them, and rocking them to sleep. He will be deeply missed.

His family includes his wife Mary Prem of Loganville; a son, Joseph (Marjorie) Prem of Loganville and their children Eric (Lorelei) and Brian (Kari) Prem; deceased son Lawrence and daughter-in-law, Debra (Tysen and daughter Tiffany) Neuheisel, and their daughter Rachel (Scott) Eberle and their children, Brayden, Bransyn and Brooklyn Eberle; 4 daughters, Barbara (Scott) Krultz of Neillsville and their daughters, Krista and Kaelyn Krultz; Theresa (Mark) Wilson of Middleton and their children, Joseph Wilson (girlfriend Alex Loy) and Laura Wilson; Anita Prem of Middleton; Kathy (Paul) Marcou of Madison; and beloved cat, Oscar. He is survived by 8 siblings, Joseph F. (Karen), Anthony (Randeen) Prem both of Spring Green, Catherine (Lawrence) McDonald of Darlington, Martha Erickson of Wilson, Michael (Mary) of Franklin, Dorothy (David) Gorman of Janesville, Andrew (Rosemary) of Plain, William (Sandi) of Spring Green, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including close friend Elsie Kruse. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Lawrence Prem; an infant sister; 2 sisters, Clara Prem and Mary (Bernard) Brings, a brother-in-law, Rudy Erickson, and close friend, Glenn Kruse and neighbors, Les and Lucille Palmer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 17 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Plain at 12:30 PM. with burial in the church cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Plain American Legion Post #398 and the Arena VFW Post #9336. Recruited to the University of Wisconsin on a football scholarship, he later transferred to the University of Wisconsin - Platteville, graduating in 1949. Mike was inducted into the University of Wisconsin - Platteville Athletic Hall of Fame as a three time all conference lineman, an honor he counted among his proudest achievements. Mike began his career as a teacher and coach in Richland Center. He later became a pharmaceutical representative with Wyeth Labs and then Syntex Labs in Milwaukee, WI, where he was promoted through management and eventually transferred to Palo Alto, CA as director of Training and Development. Mike later moved back to Wisconsin and began a successful career as a farm estate planner with New York Life. Mike retired in Marco Island where he truly enjoyed his many Shipp's Landing friends, and where he spent his days fishing and enjoying the ocean. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren, and his last conversations were of them. Mike is survived by his children, Susan (Andrew) Krembs, Jane Coyne, David Coyne and special friend Joy Anderson, Tom (Sarah) Coyne, John (Vicky) Coyne, and Bob (Wendy) Coyne; his 17 grandchildren; and his sister, Alice (Rolland) Gundlach. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Jim, Tony (Kutz) and Bob; his sisters-in-law, Liz, Lad, and Helen; and his nephew, Mark. A memorial service was held at Asbury United Methodist Church, Madison.
