Vogt, age 73 of Prairie Du Chien, formerly of Bloomington, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie Du Chien. He was born November 11, 1946, the son of Eugene and Lucille (Vorwald) Vogt. Gary graduated Bloomington High School in 1964. On July 24, 1965 he was united into marriage to Patricia A. "Pat" Piddington. Gary worked in Madison, Wisconsin and later in Dubuque, Iowa. In 1969 Gary and Pat moved back to Bloomington and began farming the Vogt Family Farm. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, 50 year member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4416, where he served as Past Grand Knight, and Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the Bloomington Booster Club and enjoyed watching the Wisconsin Badgers, Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers. In 1986 Gary retired from the farm and was employed with Wyalusing Academy, Southwest Bus Service, Spring Green Lawn Care, and Meader Book Company. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and camping with his family in Warrens, Wisconsin. Gary dearly loved his family and keeping up with their activities and his grandchildren's sporting events.
Surviving is his son Steven T. (Brenda) Vogt, his daughter Tina M. (Fred West) Vogt, grandchildren Chantelle, Courtney ( fiance' Cassidy Gabioud), Brandon, Skylar, and Quincy, his sisters; Sharon (Bill) Stoeffler, Elaine (Doug) Olson, and Deb (Lynn) Myers, many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his brother Kenny and the mother of his children Patricia A. "Pat" Vogt.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomington, with Fr. John Meinholz officiating. Private family burial will be held at a later date in St. Mary's Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Friday January 31, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory of Bloomington is assisting the family.

He was born on the Klatt farm outside of Jamestown on April 7, 1928 to Lulu (Aegeter) Marshall and Raymond Marshall, who preceded him in death. He graduated from Jamestown High School in 1946, and the University of Missouri in 1950 with a degree in Agricultural Extension. He loved the fact that President Harry Truman was the commencement speaker at his college graduation. Chester was a proud veteran of the Korean War serving in Battery B of the 235th Field Artillery and Observation Battalion. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army, April 28, 1957. He started Jamestown Quality Eggs, and owned and operated Marshall Feed and Supply for over 30 years. He was the minister of St. Paul’s Evangelical Church in Jamestown, Moniteau Advent Church, and St. Peter’s Pleasant Grove Church for over 20 years. Chester was a founding member of the Jamestown Lions Club, helped form the Jamestown Senior Housing, coached Youth Baseball for over 20 years, and taught Sunday School for over 40 years. He was a lifelong farmer and cattleman, a great crappie fisherman, storyteller, Mizzou Tiger Fan, and Cardinal Baseball Fan.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Goldie (Irwin) Marshall, whom he married October 23, 1951, six children, Gary (Kim), Dick, Bob (Lisa), Don (Nancy), Dianne and Ronnie (Michelle), 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. , and one sister, Janet (Marshall) Reimler (Frank), and 2 nieces, Vicki Reimler and Kathy Reimler. He was preceded in death by one sister Nona Mae Marshall. If a person ever meant so much to a community it was Chester. He employed, coached, taught, married, confirmed, baptized, and mentored so many people. He is a man who will be greatly missed. He lived an amazing life. Visitation will be on Sunday, October 2, 2016 from 3 – 7 PM at St. Paul’s Evangelical Church in Jamestown, MO. Funeral service will be on Monday, October 3, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Paul’s Evangelical Church in Jamestown, MO. Burial with Military Honors will be at St. Paul’s Evangelical Cemetery in Jamestown, MO.
