Terry was very active at the Academy in school events and activities. Terry was a very proud "Packer fan" and a great collector of Packer memorabilia.

He is survived by a son, Michael (Tammy) Waller of Missoula, Mont; a brother, Thomas of Colorado; two sisters, Pat Kramer of Prairie du Chien and Mary Jo (Mel) Carl of LaCrosse; along with three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial was Saturday at St. John's Catholic Church, with burial in the Calvary Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien.

He was born October 26, 1940 in Dodgeville, Wisconsin to Joseph George and Helen Maxine (Doepke) Schiefert. He was raised on a farm outside Rewey, Wisconsin and graduated from Platteville, Wisconsin High School in 1959.

In 1960, Dan met Mary Habel at a Teen Hop (dance) and they were married on March 2, 1963 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Montfort, Wisconsin. They were blessed with three children, Nicholas, Kelcey and Chad. After his graduation from the University of Wisconsin, Platteville in 1964 with a degree in Civil Engineering, he accepted a job with the Minnesota Department of Transportation and spent 35 years in working in District 6 and serving on multiple local and statewide committees, retiring as the District Design Engineer in 1999. After his retirement from MNDOT, Dan worked for Yaggy Colby Associates designing city, county and state highways. He was excited to be part of one of the state’s first design build projects for ROC 52 and enjoyed mentoring the young Engineers of the company. Dan was a part time realtor working at Frontier, All Pro and Westwood Realty’s for 25 years and was director for two years on the board of Realtors.

Dan volunteered with many clubs and associations, including the Minnesota Society of Professional Engineers, Math Counts Scholarship Awards Program and with his involvement in Zumbro Watershed Partnership and the Bluebird Recovery program Dan enjoyed the outdoors and working to protect the environment. In 1972 Dan and Mary took square dance lessons and have held many offices in the Carousel Squares, Rolling Squares (camping group), and Century Squares, where they have made many long-lasting friendships.

His hobbies also included playing bridge, poker and cribbage. He loved camping with the family, traveling to many states pulling a pop-up camper. Over the last few years, he and Mary have traveled extensively overseas, including Europe, the British Isles, New Zealand and two trips to Australia. They also went on several cruises and he has visited all but one state (Hawaii). Dan and Mary were big fans of the Twins, Vikings and University of St Thomas Fast pitch softball teams. The last three years they have attended Minnesota Twins Spring Training together in Fort Myers, Florida.

Dan is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary and his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nicholas (Amanda) Schiefert; Kelcey (Kelly) Lund; Chad (Debra) Christian Schiefert and Camille Schiefert]. He is also survived by his sister, Kay (Patrick) Lindsay; and brother, John (Renate) Schiefert; and three nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Maxine Schiefert; and two nephews.

A time of visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. April 26, 2019 with a memorial service at 12:00 p.m. in the River Park Chapel at Macken funeral Home. Interment will be in Oakwood East Cemetery.

Over the years Jackie followed her children and grandchildren in their activities. In recent years, she enjoyed her winters with her sisters in California. Jackies faith and membership in the Lutheran Church was very important to her.

Jackie is survived by her children: Cathy (Ray) Roesler of Miles City, MT; Leslie (Bob) Gray of Plevna, MT; Betsy (Wayne) Childers of Edgemont, SD; Mary (Jeff) Haase of Lemmon, SD; and John (Peggy) Hersrud of Ambler, AK; three sisters: Dorothy Willey of California; Ruth Flanigan of Oregon and Evie Goodger of California; a brother, Clayton Hamilton of Sheridan, WY; nineteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three sisters: JoAnn, Bernice and Oleafa; and two brothers: Art and Ralph.

Born in Montana on December 2, 1914, he spent his earlier years in Marcos, Iowa. Lloyd joined the US Marine Corps during WWII, and was assigned with the Marine Detachment aboard the heavy cruiser USS Houston, which sank during a fierce battle in the Sunda Strait near Java. He was taken prisoner-of-war by the Japanese and spent the next three and a half years summoning all of his strength to endure and survive the atrocities of his captors.

After his release at war's end, he returned to Montana where he met the love of his life, Dorothy Hamilton. They were married in 1946 and celebrated 63 wonderful years together. Lloyd's occupations involved many forms of transportation: driving buses in Oceanside, and a civil service job in the Transportation Department at Camp Pendleton. Lloyd was a 75 year member of the Elks Lodge, a lifetime member of the American Ex-POW's, lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, and a member of the Southern California Chapter of the American Ex-POW's where he served as the Chaplain. He was also a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Vista.

Lloyd was a devoted family man and is survived by his wife, Dorothy; three children, Kevin (Yong Sun), Christy Larivee (Ron), and Dwight (Josie); six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his brother, Clifford E. Willey; and James Whittaker, a lifelong friend and fellow POW from Britain, who was like a brother.

A service of Remembrance with Military Honors, will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 6, at Grace Presbyterian Church in Vista. Pastor Tom Straeter will officiate. Lloyd will be interred at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in Point Loma.
