Survivors include her parents, Mr and Mrs Merwin Lykken of Pinole, a sister Beth, and three brothers Chug, Mark, and Neil also of Pinole, and her grandparents Mr and Mrs Robert Sharif of El Cerrito, and Mrs Agnes Lykken of Richmond. Services will be conducted at 9:30 am tomorrow from St Joseph Catholic Church followed by concluding services at St Joseph Cemetery in San Pablo. Rhonda Leigh Schmidt was born June 23, 1949, in Hawarden, Iowa to Clarence and Loraine (Schlumbohm) Schmidt. She was baptized July 10, 1949 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ireton, Iowa.
At age 12, she moved to a group home in Clear Lake, Iowa. Throughout her life she also lived in Glenwood, Iowa, and at Courage Homes in Sioux City, Iowa. She moved to Hillcrest Health Care Center in June of 2009.
Rhonda is survived by her mother, Loraine Schmidt of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; brother, Lavern (Louann) Schmidt of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; nephews, Greg (Jennifer) Schmidt of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Michael (Sharla) Schmidt, and Clay (Jennifer) Schmidt, both of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; niece, Brenna Schmidt of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and five great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence in 1974.

Abelow was born Dec. 29, 1924, in Oak Park, Ill., she was a resident of Westport from 1954 to 2008. She graduated from Averett University in Danville, Va., in 1944, moved to New York City, joined the CBS art department and worked alongside the artist Ben Shahn. There she met her husband, CBS writer and producer and later Grey Advertising executive, Samuel I. Abelow. They were happily married until his death in 1981.

She is survived by her sister, Kathryn Arnold and her husband of Boulder, Colo., and her children; Kathryn Ruoff and her husband of Chichester, N.H., David Abelow and his wife of Westport, and her five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

A private memorial will be held in Westport later this summer.

Ada was born on January 3, 1919 in Potosi Township, the daughter of William and Cecelia (Holzer) Pennekamp. She was united in marriage to Donald Osterholz on July 2, 1946 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Platteville. He preceded her in death on September 8, 2001. Ada and Don farmed together in the Platteville area for 27 years. After retiring from farming, Ada became a child care provider. Ada was a very faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Platteville, where she was a member of the CCW and the Ministry of Praise group. Ada also was a member of the Christopher Splinter Ladies of the Auxiliary Post. She enjoyed playing bingo, especially going on the Bingo bus, embroidery, and visiting the senior center when she was able. She also enjoyed her time spent on the bench at Piggly Wiggly where she’d have the opportunity to visit with those coming and going.

Ada is survived by three children, Dale (Louise) Osterholz, Rita Osterholz, and Diane Obershaw; daughter-in-law, Lorraine Osterholz; eight grandchildren, Jeff Krause, Mike (Kacy) Krause, Jennifer (Jeff) Ring, Debbie (Jody) Gilligan, Chris (Cate) Osterholz, Amanda Obershaw, Molly (Jeremy) Donar, and Heather (fiance, Riley Speed) Obershaw; 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson due in April; brother, Ralph (Sally) Pennekamp; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don; son, Marv; son-in-law, Dave Obershaw; great-grandson, Mitchel Krause; nine siblings; and many brothers and sisters-in-law.

Ruth was born on June 24, 1929, in Jamestown Township of Grant County. She was the daughter of Joseph C. Kuhle and Lydia Klaas Kuhle Eckert. Her step-father was Cletus Eckert. She adored her six siblings and cherished spending time with them.

Ruth was a homemaker who enjoyed reading, traveling, and playing cards. Besides being a member of both St. Peter’s parish and St. Philomena’s parish, she was a member of The Rosary Society and Pleasant View Homemakers. She was extremely proud of her thirteen children and enjoyed their numerous phone calls and visits.

Ruth was a 1947 graduate of St. Joseph Academy in Dubuque, IA. She met Joseph L. Klein in 1947 and they married on November 10, 1948 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kieler, WI. Together she and Joe farmed in the Belmont area with a wonderful family of three daughters and ten sons. She believed in the importance of an education, whether it be college, vocational school, or the school of life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, on March 14, 1990; her father, Joe; mother, Lydia; step-father, Cletus; brothers, Bernard and LaVerne. The loss of her grandson, Peter, and son, Don, were extremely difficult for her to deal with. Her faith gave her strength to accept such tremendous loss.
