Rupp, a lifelong resident of Cherokee, made his home at 525 W. Maple. He was born March 31,1914 in Cherokee, and married Lorraine Saner in 1935. She died on June 24, 1955.

He was married to Beulah Pelton on Sept. 3,1957 at Yankton, S.D.

He had worked for Illinois Central Railroad for nine years; the Cherokee Mental Health Institute for five years; and the Love Tire Shop for 19 years, retiring in 1980.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Terry Rupp, Cherokee; one daughter, Mrs. Nis (Jo Ann) Laursen, Meriden; one stepson, Joe Rupp, Kingsley; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and four step grandchildren; one brother, Paul Rupp, Cherokee; four sisters, Mrs. Jim (Coral) Loucks, and Mrs. Walter (Cleo) Ranard, both of Las Vegas, Nev; Mrs. Robert (Laudine) Cunningham, Omaha, Neb; Mrs. Robert (Geraldine) Garbow, Boone.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday from the Boothby Funeral Home. The Rev. Bob Davis will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of Boothby Funeral Home. A family prayer service will be held Monday at 10:15 a.m. from the funeral home.

Private memorial services for family only will be held on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Pastor Don Meyer will officiate. Military rites will be held at the funeral home following the memorial service.

Terry was born to Creston and Lorraine (Saner) Rupp on September 1, 1936 in Cherokee, Iowa. He attended Cherokee Schools graduating in 1956. He enlisted to the United States Army in January 1957, serving the country during Peacetime until his honorable discharge in 1963. Terry married LaRae Boothby on June 6, 1957. Together they had four children, Brenda, Rick, Randy, and Bette.

He worked for Wilson Foods, that later became Tyson Foods for 33 years, retiring in 1998. Terry enjoyed fishing, collecting, bowling, camping, birdwatching, and sitting on his porch. Terry loved spending time with family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law, three brothers-in-law, three grandchildren Matthew Rupp, Sara Stimac, Trent Godbersen, and a great granddaughter Kaitlyn Stimac.

Left to cherish him, are his wife, LaRae of Cherokee, Iowa, daughter Brenda (Dean) Schnoes of Cleghorn, Iowa, and their [two] children; Rick (Sandy) Rupp of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and their children; Randy (Marilyn) Rupp of Cherokee, Iowa and their children ; and Bette (Jim) Godbersen of Cleghorn, Iowa and their children; fourteen great-grandchildren, [redacted]; sister JoAnn Laursen of Meriden, Iowa, six sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A native of Iowa, born July 22, 1926. She lived the past 12 years in Lincoln, Calif., and prior to that in Santa Rosa and San Francisco. A dedicated homemaker and registered nurse, she was an honorary life member of the American Cancer Society, active volunteer in the Rose Auxiliary Children's Home Society, PTA's, and three Parishes. She enjoyed playing bridge, bingo, and dancing with her true love, Earl, for the past 62 years. Mom loved the Lord, her family and friends, and lived to serve others. We will miss her dearly and forever remember her fondly in our hearts.
Friends are invited to attend a Rosary and Funeral Mass on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 280 Oak Tree Lane, Lincoln, Calif. Arrangements are under the direction of the Neptune Society of Northern CA in Castro Valley.

Death19 June 2014Earl Joseph Cooney died on 19 June 2014 at age 96 Earl J. Cooney, was born on May 19, 1918 and passed away peacefully on June 19, 2014. A native of Anaconda, Montana, he lived the past 2 years in Castro Valley and prior to that in Lincoln, Santa Rosa and San Francisco.

Following High School, he joined the Conservation Civilian Corp at Flathead Lake. A year later, he worked in the smelters (copper mines) in Anaconda. Shortly after WW II started, he signed up as an Iron Worker for the Judson Pacific-Murphy Corporation, until he enlisted in the US Navy. His assignment was the Seabees and he was stationed in Guam and the Philippines during WW II.

After the War, he moved to San Francisco, where he met his true love, Lorraine. They were married on June 25, 1949. Earl was a San Francisco Firefighter and Inspector and retired after thirty years of service.

Earl was predeceased by his beloved wife, Lorraine, his parents, Owen and Mary Cooney, siblings, John, Lillian, Mary, and Cecilia, and his in-laws, Maurice and Dorothy Cummings.

Survivors include his children, Michael (Celeste), Kevin (Pamela), Anita Reynolds (Stanton), Steve (Julie), Tim (Alyson); nineteen grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren; also survived by his brother-in-law, Lyle Church (Nancy); sister-in-laws Joan Knutson and Marge Cummings.

He enjoyed swimming, golf, playing bridge, and dancing with his "Sweet Lorraine." Dad loved the Lord, his wife, family, and friends. He was a man of action and always quick to help others. We will miss him dearly and always remember him for his kindness and generosity.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on August 2nd at Holy Spirit Church, 1244 St. Francis Road, Santa Rosa.
