He was born December 23, 1927 in Madison, Wisconsin to Arthur and Violet Friede. He moved to the Englewood area in 1955 from Wisconsin. He was a member of Englewood United Methodist Church, a Life Member of the Englewood Elks Lodge, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Moose Lodge and he was a volunteer Fireman in Englewood years ago. He was a School Bus driver for Charlotte County for 14 years and worked for Culligan Water for 28 years. He loved his cat Oliver and all animals. He was an avid blood donor for many years and he loved to walk and visit friends. He married his wife Betty on August 29, 1948, she predeceased him in 2014, and also by his parents and four sisters, Loretta, Darlene, Dorothy and Laverne. He is survived by his daughter, Susan Newberry of Englewood, his son Gerry (Luann) Friede of Middleburg, Florida; grandchildren, Teata Bonfiglio, Eben Barnes and Billy Newberry; great-grandchildren, Spencer, Zach, Dylan and Emma. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until noon with funeral services to follow at Lemon Bay Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lemon Bay Cemetery.
