Birth17 January 1830Catherine Prunty was born on 17 January 1830 at Parish of Aughavas, Drumbenish, Leitrim, Province of Connacht, Ireland.
She was the daughter of Felix Laughlin Prunty and Abagail Kallahan.
Marriage29 July 1855Catherine Prunty married William Michael Glancy II on 29 July 1855 at Boston, Massachussets, Catherine Prunty and William Glancy were married by the Reverend Laurence Carrole. Witnesses were James Newman and Catherine Sullivan. William was 30 years old and employed as a porter. Catherine was 24 with no occupation listed. Her father is listed as Laughlin Prunty.
Death28 August 1908Catherine Prunty died on 28 August 1908 at Needham, Norfolk, Massachusetts, at age 78 The funeral of Mrs. Catherine Glancy, who died of valvular disease of the heart August 28, took place from her late home, Great Plain Avenue, Greendale, with solemn requiem mass at St. Teresa's Church, West Roxbury, and was attended by a large number of relatives and friends. Catherine (Prunty) Glancy was born in Ireland, January 17, 1830 and losing her parents at an early age, she accompanied her brothers to Boston in 1845, making the voyage, then one of six weeks, in a sailing vessel, "The Bombay". July 29, 1855, she married William Glancy of Boston, where they resided until 1860, when they took up their residence on the farm bordering the river in Greendale, where she has lived to the time of her death. Being left a widow with four children by the accidental drowning of her husband in 1873, on a lonely, untilled farm, heavily encumbered by debt, she faced with indomitable courage the battle of winning a livelihood and educating her children. How well she succeeded, her friends and neighbors know, and they kindly showed their appreciation of her and sympathy for the family by many beautiful floral tributes. Consoled and fortified by her firm faith in God's goodness, she never wavered nor complained. When urged by her nearest relative to join them in the West, she replied, "This is my children's home---I must keep it for them." Her sincere and quiet manners endeared her to all who knew her, especially among the members of St. Teresa's Church where she was a regular attendant. She is survived by her four children---William J. Glancy of Forest Hills, Mrs. Thomas H. Fox of West Roxbury, Patrick J. Glancy and Mary E. Glancy of Needham and by two grandchildren, M. Helen Fox and Mary J. Glancy. Some of her beautiful traits of character were most feelingly referred to in the beautiful glowing tribute paid her simple, faithful life at the mass by her pastor the Rev. T.J. Danahy, who also officiated at the grave at Mt. Sion in St. Joseph's cemetery, West Roxbury. Hers was a noble life of humble devotion to duty and self sacrifice and her example will long be felt by those who came under her influence."
Burial31 August 1908She was buried on 31 August 1908 at St. Joseph's Cemetery, West Roxbury, Massachusetts.
