She attended Newdale Elementary School and graduated from Beresford High School. Lucille was united in marriage to Bert Cole on September 14, 1940. They lived on a farm southwest of Beresford. In 1976 she moved to Beresford. In June of 2002 she moved to Evergreen Assisted Living in Viborg and resided there until she moved into Bethesda Nursing Home in Beresford on April 29, 2005. She passed away peacefully on February 28, 2006 at Bethesda at the age of 91 years, 5 months and 14 days. Lucille was a lifelong member of Dalesburg Lutheran Church where she was active in LCW, Choir, Sunday School and directed Junior Choir for many years. She was a member of the DDD Extension Club where she served as President and Secretary. Lucille enjoyed sewing, gardening, growing beautiful flowers and most of all, the time she spent with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son in infancy, a brother Benhard, and two nephews, David Buechler and Jonathan Carlson. She is survived by three brothers: Leonard Carlson, Carol Carlson and Roscoe Carlson and his wife Lois all of Beresford; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. BLESSED BE HER MEMORY.

He served in the US Army during WWII and received his honorable discharge in 1946. Leonard worked with his brother Carol in farming, running a dairy operation and doing carpentry work. He enjoyed playing the guitar, doing yo-yo tricks, playing softball and chasing opossums. His parents, brothers Benhard and Roscoe Carlson, sister Lucille Cole, and nephews David Buechler and Johnathan Carlson preceded him in death. He is survived by his brother Carol Carlson and sister-in-law Lois Carlson both of Beresford; niece Patty Buechler of Chancellor; nephews Ron (Sandy) Carlson, Gary (Katie) Carlson and Don (Elma) Carlson all of Beresford; and several great and great, great nieces and nephews who loved him and called him Uncle Lenny. Blessed Be His Memory. Funeral services will be held 2:00PM, Saturday, September 24 at Dalesburg Lutheran Church, rural Vermillion, with burial to follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 6:30PM to 8:00PM with a prayer service at 7PM at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford.

He served in the US Army during WWII and received his honorable discharge in 1946. Carol worked with his brothers, Leonard and Benhard, in farming, running a dairy operation and doing carpentry work. They built several homes in the Beresford area, including their own on their farmstead south of Beresford. He also worked for several years at Kruse Building Center in Beresford. Carol enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews.

His parents, brothers, Benhard, Leonard and Roscoe; sister, Lucille Cole; and nephews, David Buechler and Johnathan Carlson preceded him in death.

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Lois Carlson of Beresford; niece, Patti Buechler of Chancellor; nephews, Ron (Sandy) Carlson, Gary (Katie) Carlson and Don (Elma) Carlson all of Beresford; several great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews who loved him dearly and called him “Uncle Carol”. Uncle Carol will be missed dearly. We cherished his presence.

Funeral services will be held 11AM Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014 at Dalesburg Lutheran Church, rural Beresford, SD. Visitation with the family present will be 6-8PM Friday at the church with a prayer service at 7PM.

Roscoe Carlson was born March 3, 1930 in rural Beresford, SD to parents Otto and Esther (Frick) Carlson. He died at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, with family at his side, Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at the age of 80 years, 7 months and 10 days after a courageous battle with COPD. Roscoe was a lifelong member of Dalesburg Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed. He served many years on the Church Council. He received his education at Newdale Rural School and graduated from Beresford High School in 1948. Roscoe married Lois Ellefson on May 26, 1951. To this union one daughter and three sons, Patty, Ron, Gary and Don were born. They lived on a farm south of Beresford where Roscoe farmed and did carpentry work. In 2004 they retired to Beresford. He enjoyed being with family and friends at their cabin at Swan Lake where he served many years on the Association Board and was instrumental in getting the lake dredged. He loved celebrating holidays with family, playing keyboard and teaching guitar lessons; Christmas lights, the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Vikings. Roscoe enjoyed decorating his yard with lawn ornaments and lights when he became confined to his home in Beresford. His parents, brother, Benhard Carlson; sister, Lucille Cole; son-in-law, David Buechler and grandson, Johnathan Carlson preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Lois; daughter, Patty Buechler of Chancellor, SD; sons, Ron (Sandy), Gary (Katie) and Don (Elma) Carlson all of Beresford; 12 grandchildren, Kristi (Jeramie) Adams, Aaron (Tammy) Carlson, Jessica (Jason) Sylte, Kari (Nick) Oyen, Mike Buechler, Jen Buechler, Becca Buechler, Jeremy (Kris) Carlson, Josh (Audri) Calrson, Jason (Crystal) Carlson, Kevin Carlson and Sara Carlson; 13 great-grandkids with two more coming this spring; brothers, Leonard and Carol Carlson of Beresford; sisters-in-law, Judy Johnson and Helen Ellefson of Sioux Falls and Olive Johnson of Willow Lake, SD. Aldinger Funeral Home & Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.
