She is survived by her son Jeff Stancer and his wife Betty of Redwood Falls, three grandsons; two great-grandchildren; sister Martha Ammermann of Windom, brother-in-law Lao Stancer and wife Elizabeth of Redwood Falls, and sisters-in-law, Shirley Klause and husband Wally of Hector, Audrey Stancer of Redwood Falls, and Arlene Johnson of Windom. She was preceded in death by her husband Garol; brothers, Oscar, Martin, and Stanley; sisters, Grace Christopher, Olga Tostensen, Ann Martin, and Alyce Johnson. She was born Thursday, March 9, 1916 in Odin to John 0. and Olivia (Paulson) Johnson. She grew up in Odin and attended Edison High School. On April 12, 1936 she married Garold Stancer in the Zion Lutheran Church in Odin. They lived in Redwood Falls until moving to Ogden, Utah during World War II. They returned to Redwood Falls in 1946. Garold died on Oct. 7, 1997. She was an active member of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls, where she served on the funeral committee for more than 30 years, belonged to the quilters group and WELCA. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the V.F.W. Auxiliary, the County Council, and the Hospital Auxiliary, and she held many offices in all of these organizations.1

The body was taken to the Nilson Funeral home at Alcester. He suffered a ruptured blood vessel when attempting to repair an elevator in the upper portion of the corn crib on his farm near Hawarden. He was taken from the Hawarden hospital to Sioux Falls 12 days before his death. Funeral services will be held at Peace Lutheran church south of Alcester at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon, Rev. E. C. Beyer officiating. Burial will be at the Peace Lutheran cemetery. Mr. Buum was born September 22, 1904 on a farm near Nora, S. D., and resided in the Hawarden and Alcester vicinities all his life. On December 18, 1926, he married Edith Fickbohm at the Peace Lutheran church. He farmed all of his married life. He was preceded in death by two brothers who died in infancy. Survivors include the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Avis Blomberg; a son, Roger, both of Hawarden; two sisters, Mrs. Forrest (Oliva) Sappingfield and Mrs. Marie Anderson, both of Alcester, and two granddaughters.
