She was born Dec. 25, 1917, at Nickerson, the daughter of Floyd and Lydia Kittle Sumwalt. She was also the stepdaughter of Viola Sumwalt. A lifetime Reno County resident, she had worked in the Cary Salt Dairy Packaging Department for 28 years, retiring in 1981.

She belonged to the Carey Salt Retirees Breakfast Club.

On Sept. 2, 1938, she married Marion M. "Bill" Greenfield at Hutchinson. He survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Billy Joe, Ponca City, Okla; a daughter, Pamela Faye Polk, rural Burrton; two brothers, Kenneth, Stoughton, Wis., and Doyle, Lebanon, Mo; three sisters, Juanita Methews, Mojave Desert, Ariz., Vera Ray, Hutchinson and Rosalee Bontrager, Hutchinson; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Imajewel Bringle, Haney Teter and Irma O'Shea.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Bill Greenfield presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to noon Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson.

Memorials may be sent to American Diabetes Association, in care of the mortuary.

Kenneth L. Sumwalt died on 26 May 2006 at age 89 Kenneth L. Sumwalt Sr., age 89, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2006, at the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center. He was born on Oct. 15, 1916, in Nickerson, Kan., the son of Floyd and Lydia (Kittle) Sumwalt. Kenneth served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was a tail gunner on a B-24 Liberator, serving in 36 missions during World War II. He was united in marriage to Letha "Marguerite" Dosch on Oct. 14, 1937, in Sylvan Township. Kenneth was a foreman for Vita Plus Corp. Kenneth enjoyed antique cars and fishing. He is survived by his loving wife, Letha "Marguerite" of Stoughton; six children, Shirley (Ron) Noyce of Sun Prairie, Bob (Shari) Sumwalt of Wales, Mass., Ken (Nina) Sumwalt of Shawnee, Okla., Carol Little, Jerry (Helen) Sumwalt and Terry (Debby) Sumwalt, all of Stoughton; son-in-law, Russell (Dorothy) Dille of Independence, Mo; brother, Doyle Sumwalt of Lebanon, Mo; two sisters, Rosalee Bontrager of Kansas and Vera Ray of Kansas; 18 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; a stepmother, Viola; a daughter, Darlene Dille; and four sisters, Lucille, Imajewel, Irma and Radietta. Funeral services will be held at the GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL HOME, Highway 51 North at Jackson Street, Stoughton, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2006, with Monsignor Gerard M. Healy. Private burial will be held at a later date. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday.
