Together, they had four children. He workedin construction as a laborer for many years prior to his retirement.He enjoyed fishing with his family at their trailer in Prairie du Chien,hunting and going on gambling trips with his wife. Laurell is survived by his children, Gary Brown of Mineral Point, Bonny (Mike Carpenter)Laufenberg of Pardeeville, and Terry (Patty Connery-Brown) Brown ofBarneveld; grandchildren, Jason (Anabel), Jeremy and Tonya Laufenberg,all of Madison, Alexis and Nicole Brown of Barneveld; a great-grandchild,Joshua Laufenberg of Madison; two sisters, Mona Cook of Madison, andBeverly Dunbar of Platteville; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-lawsand friends. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; a son, Barry,in infancy; a sister, Diane Jongebloed; a brother, Irvin 'Bucky'Brown; and three brothers-in-law, Russell Cook, Charles Dunbar and DickJongebloed. A private memorial service will be held with inurnment at Springdale Lutheran Church Cemetery. The ELLESTAD FUNERAL HOME, 500N. 8th Street, Mount Horeb, is serving the family. Memorials are preferredto the American Lung Association.

On June 21, 1948, Mona was united in marriage to Russell Cook. They lived in Cobb for 22 years and together owned and operated "Cookies Bar”. In 1974, they moved to Las Vegas, Nev. where Mona was a waitress at the Golden Gate Casino. After living in Las Vegas for 10 years they returned to Wisconsin and made their home in Madison, where they had lived since 1984. Mona enjoyed going to the casino and playing Euchre and Cribbage. She will be missed by her family and friends including her daughters, Debbie Wallace and Susan Pratt both of Madison; sister, Beverly Dunbar of Platteville; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved Kitty, Smokey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Cook on Feb. 16, 2002; parents; brothers, Irvin "Bucky" Brown and Laurel Brown; and sister, Diana Jongebloed. Visitation for family and friends will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 3 p.m until 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018.

Bev and Sonny owned and operated Sonny and Bev’s Tavern, Platteville, for almost 20 years. She later worked at Culver’s and Golden Gate restaurant, Platteville. Bev was a volunteer at the Platteville Senior Center. She always enjoyed a good game of cards, especially euchre.

Beverly is survived by her children, Belinda (Derek) Allender, Jacalyn (Leroy) Schmieder, Dan (Debra) Dunbar, Randy Dunbar and Deanna Dunbar; son-in-law, Jim Auel; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Gloria Auel, her parents, brothers, Laurel, and Irvin “Buck” Brown, and sisters, Mona Cook and Diane Jongebloed.
