He was born Jan. 5, 1925, to Delbert and Frances (Hill) DeHaven. He began school at the Panhandle School and later moved with his family to Wyoming where his father was employed in road construction. He attended several schools in Wyoming, including LaGrange and Torrington where he graduated from the eighth grade. The family moved back to Harrison in 1939 where he graduated from Sioux County High School. He married Willadell Koch. They had one daughter. Dale worked at Fort Robinson for five years, ran the Harrison Dry Cleaners for five years and did construction work with Guy Hanson before working as a bookkeeper fortwo car dealerships at Lusk, Wyo., Burge Motors and Lusk Motors. In 1956, he began working at the Sioux County Courthouse, first in the county clerk's office and later in the county treasurer's office. He was appointed Sioux County Treasurer in 1961, and held the position for 37 years. Dale was a member of the Harrison Methodist Church and served as its treasurer for 22 years. He enjoyed sports and played town team basketball for many years with his brother Richard. He was a wonderful father and grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his daughter, Charlene (Bill) Baker of Harrison; three grandchildren, Barbara Baker of Lusk, Michael (Valerie) Baker of Alliance, and Neil (Stacy) Baker of Bayard; and six great-grandchildren, Bethany, Megan, Rachel, Lindsey, Joel and Ryan. She was born July 11, 1923, at Harrison, NE, the youngest child of Martin Henry and Minnie Jane Sutton Koch. She attended school in Harrison and graduated from Sioux County High School in Harrison. She married Dale De Haven and they were the parents of one daughter, Charlene Baker.

She was a member of the Harrison Methodist Church for 62 years, joining when she was only 15. She belonged to the United Methodist Women and the Evening Circle and served as chairman for both groups. She was employed at the Sioux County Court House in the County Superintendent's office working for Mrs. Edgitha Rathbun and Mr. David Jesser. She worked later in the County Treasurer's office serving as the Deputy County Treasurer for twenty-four years. She retired in January of 1999.

She was a very devoted daughter, wife, and mother. She spent many years helping her parents in their store and driving the truck for her dad when he made deliveries of furniture, appliances and bottled gas to residents of Harrison and the surrounding communities.

She provided a home for her brother after the death of their father, and she cared for her aunt and uncle, Luther and Gladys Koch, by delivering meals to them when they were unable to care for themselves.

She loved to cook meals for her grandchildren and enjoyed having them come to her house after school. She was a very generous gift giver to all.

She is survived by her husband, Dale, her daughter Charlene and husband Bill Baker, three grandchildren, Barbara Baker of Lusk, Wyo., Michael and Wife Valerie Baker of Alliance, Neb., Neil and wife Stacy Baker of Bayard, Neb., and three great granddaughters, Bethany, Megan and Rachel Baker.
