Mr. Judd was born June 17, 1844 in Ontario, Canada. His parents moved to Kenosha county, Wis., when he was four years old and he lived there until 1855, when they moved to Summit, Juneau county. When the Civil war started he was among the first to volunteer and served four and a half years with Co. K, 25 Regt. After the war this company was sent to Minnesota to quell the Indian uprising. He was at the battle of Vicksburg and marched with Sherman to the sea. After the war he came home and was married to Charlotte Randall, Feb. 16, 1865 at Kilbourn. Five children of this union are living. His first wife died Oct. 18, 1875 and the following year he married Mary Jane Randall, who survived him. Mr. Judd was a resident of Summit for many years but since 1893 he has lived in Mauston.
