Marriage30 September 1938Myrtle Jeanette Grabhorn married John Robert Knobloch, son of Johann Knobloch and Ida Charlotte Hass, on 30 September 1938.
Death11 February 1998Myrtle Jeanette Grabhorn died on 11 February 1998 at age 78 Myrtle Jeanette Knoblock, 78, of La Crosse died peacefully in her home among family members on February 11, 1998, at 5 p.m; ending her courageous battle with Lou Gehrig's disease. Myrtle was the eldest child of ten, born to Oscar and Emma (Kendhammer) Grabhorn on January 8, 1920. She was married to Robert John Knobloch on September 30, 1938. Together they farmed in the early years of their marriage.
In addition to being a wife and mother of four children, Myrtle touched the lives of many others in the community through her independently operated domestic care work, which she carried on until the onset of her disease in 1997. Many of her clients and their families became cherished lifelong friends.
Myrtle lost her husband, Robert, in 1984, to heart disease and stroke. Since the time she focused her life on family, particularly her grandchildren and her many close friends. Myrtle's joy in life was in giving selflessly to others, and she will be always remembered in this spirit. Myrtle touched the lives of many and will be sorely missed now that she has been called to her ultimate reward.
Myrtle is survived by three daughters, Barbara (Darryl) Wright of Onalaska, Vicki (Jim) Cordes of Brownsville, Minn. and Jeannette (Cy) Harris of Genoa, Wis; one son, Dale (Claudia) Knobloch of Racine, Wis; seven grandchildren, Todd, Tara, Tanya, Amanda, Debra, Jim and Ann; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mildred Johnston of Hokah, Minn., Irene Stahl and Leona (Ken) Johnson, both of La Crosse; three brothers, Calvin (Mary) Grabhorn of La Crosse, Reuben Grabhorn of Stoddard, Wis. and Albert (Eunice) Grabhorn of Rockland, Wis. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 16, 1998, at 11 a.m. at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse with Rev. C. Philip Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Mormon Coulee Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 5 until 7 p.m.
``She is our grandma, and she will always be with us, for she left a part of herself in all of those who loved her.''
