Hilda was a librarian at various universities throughout the United States and traveled extensively. She enjoyed playing cards, the piano and working on genealogy. Hilda was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Baraboo. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Herman, Paul and Elmer; and sister, Selma Kluender. She is survived by her brother, Lester (Willanna) Steinweg of Nicholasville, Ky; sister-in-law, Arlene Steinweg of Reedsburg; nieces and nephews; along with other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Hilda E. Steinweg will be conducted at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 23, 2005, at the FARBER FUNERAL HOME, Reedsburg, with Pastor Myron Schwanke officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorials of remembrance may be made to St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Baraboo.

Born in Baraboo, he was the son of the late Carl O. and Selma Steinweg Kluender. His wife, Maria Anna Bikneris Kluender, died in 1977. There are no survivors.
