A funeral service celebrating Rita’s life will be at 11AM, Monday March 26, 2018 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 1303 N. Walnut, Danville with Father Bowan Schmitt officiating. A rosary will be at 10:30am Monday prior to the service at St. Paul’s. Internment will be alongside her husband at Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum in Manitowoc, WI.

Rita was born at her family farm in Loretta, WI on June 11, 1920, the daughter of Joseph and Margaret (Dwyer) Fargen. Rita was married to Merton R. Prouty of Spring Green, WI on January 31, 1942, and shared over 38 years together.

Her husband Mert served in the Army during WWII; consequently, Rita began her married life traveling to new areas of the country. Prior to that, a rare 60 mile trip into Madison was the extent of her travels. After the war, Rita and Mert returned to Wisconsin, living in Spring Green and Chilton. They moved to Mountain Home, AK in 1975. After the death of her husband, Rita moved to Danville. She worked at Woodbury’s with her Daughter Linda for 20 years. She was a dedicated volunteer for CRIS and USMC for many years. Even into her 90’s, Rita could be seen walking to volunteer at the hospital and CRIS from her home. She was a faithful member of Saint Paul’s Catholic Church for 31 years. A devout Catholic often leading parishioners in the Rosary, and dispensing Holy Communion at the hospital. More than anything on this earth, Rita loved her family; they were her life.

Rita is survived by her four children: Rita Jean (Jan) Jackson, Linda (Michael) Federman, Timm (Jane) Prouty, and Danny (Jennifer) Prouty; grandchildren: Dan (Debbie) Jackson, Robert (Michelle) Jackson, Mattew (Amanda) Jackson, Todd (Heather) Federman, Mark Federman, Lacey Prouty, Tyler (Kelsey) Prouty, and Mathias Prouty; Great-Grandchildren: Nate, Brayden, Zeke, and Zander Jackson, Kelli (Luis), Brian and Gina Federman, Alexa, Kortni, Brenson and Finn Prouty; Great-Great Grandchildren: Lylith Lorenzo; numerous Nieces and nephews, brother-in-laws Richard (Marlene) and Robert (Joyce) Prouty, and sister-in-law Mary Margaret Fargen.

Rita is preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law: Jan Jackson; Granddaughter Lisa Jackson; Grandson Nicholas Prouty; sisters: Vera (Tom) Biser, Agnus (Francis) Dedrich, Margaret Fargen, Alice (Francis) Manion, Eileen (Charles) Ellefson, and Jean (George) Duren; brothers: Joseph (Eulalia) Fargen, LaVerne (Bud) Farge; sister-in-law Ruth Engar, Alice (Charles) Norton, and Florence (Dale) Collin.

Pallbearers will be Todd and Mark Federman, Mathias Prouty, Tyler Prouty, Mattew and Robert Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George, on March 18, 2002; brothers, Joseph and Lavern "Bud" Fargen; and sisters, Vera Biser, Eileen Ellefson and Alice Manion. She is survived by her children, Lisa Giacomini of San Diego, Dennis (Roberta) Duren of Reedsburg, Timothy (Linda) Duren of LaValle and Lori (Mark) Zobel of Reedsburg; eight grandchildren, Justin Giacomini, Blake (Nadia) and Cole Duren, Nathan and Lacy Duren, Hannah, Zachary and Jonathan Zobel; her sisters, Rita Prouty of Danville, Ill. and Agnes Dederich of Spring Green; nieces; nephews; along with other relatives and friends. A Mass Of Christian Burial will be conducted on Wednesday, March 29, 2006, at 11 a.m. in ST. ANTHONY'S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Germantown, with Father Andre Panek officiating. Burial will follow in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the CAZENOVIA CHAPEL, where a parish rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m. The Farber Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

She was also a member of Catholic Daughters of America, Winfield Township Homemaker and the 4-H. She was very proud of her Irish heritage. She is survived by three daughters, Mary (Arthur) Zammikiel of Rocky River, Ohio, Jean (Jerry) Apple of Dousman, Wis., and Patricia (James) Francisco of Baraboo; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Manion of Reedsburg; eight grandchildren, Brian Manion, Jeff Apple, Therese Hensley, Daniel Apple, Kelly Manion, James Zammikiel, Gregory Francisco and Kyle Francisco; three great-grandchildren, Tanner and Beck Apple, and Connor Hensley; three sisters, Agnes Dederich of Spring Green, Rita Prouty of Danville, Ill., and Jean Duren of Cazenovia; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Fargen of Spring Green. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Francis on Oct. 16, 1968; son, Joseph; infant twin sister; two brothers, Joseph (Eulalia) Fargan, and LaVern Fargen; two sisters, Vera (Tom) Biser and Eileen (Charles) Ellefson; brothers-in-law, Francis Dederich, Merton Prouty, George Duren, and Henry (Vera) Manion; and a sister-in-law, Margaret (Maurice) Condon. A Mass of Christian Burial for Alice Manion will be conducted at 11:30 a.m., Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH in Reedsburg with Father Thomas Monaghan officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Reedsburg. Friends may call on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the FARBER FUNERAL HOME where a Catholic Daughters Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. The Farber Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

He was a successful farmer who took great pride in running the family farm business and for his agricultural accomplishments. As a lifelong resident of Cazenovia he enjoyed being involved in the Weston School Sports programs, the ATV Club and had a passion for giving back to the community. He was proud of his children and family whom he loved dearly as well as the numerous friends he made during his lifetime. He was married to Linda Lacy on September 23, 1989 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Reedsburg. Their marriage was blessed with two children. Linda preceded him in death on September 26, 2011. He was also preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his children: Nate Duren and Lacy Duren both of Cazenovia

Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4-8 P.M. at the Cazenovia Chapel with a Vigil Prayer service being prayed at 3:45 P.M. and again on Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. The family requests memorials of remembrance be made in lieu of flowers.

On September 23, 1989, Linda was united in marriage to Timothy Duren at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Reedsburg, WI. This marriage was blessed with two children. Linda was employed as a bookkeeper through the years and worked at Chiquoine and Krueger Law Office, Hankscraft, Moy, Borchert and Erbs, and recently at Addison Machine, all in Reedsburg. Linda loved spending time with her family. She attended all the sporting events her children participated in and was an active supporter of the Weston Wrestling and Football Clubs. In her free time she enjoyed restoring antiques, and home improvements.

She also took pride in her yard and flower gardens.

A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Cazenovia Chapel in Cazenovia where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 PM.
