When she was fourteen years of age her parents immigrated to America and settled near Leland, Sauk County, Wis. On July 2, 1890, she was united in marriage with Mr. Henry Hanusa. To this union were born eight children: Mrs. Dora Kelsh of Humbird, Mrs. Frank Schabel and Mrs. Frank Lock of Dutton, Mont., Will and Emil of Chicago, Mrs. Mae H. Yakes who preceded her in death trhee years ago, Arnold of Chateau, Mont., and Elva at home with her sister, Mrs. Kelsh.
During the first twelve years of their married life, Mr. and Mrs. Hanusa lived in Sauk County, and in 1902 they moved to Jackson County, where they have since resided. Mr. Hanusa passed away in 1923, and since that time Mrs. Hanusa’s health gradually failed. The past three years she had been under the doctors and nurses care, but nothing seemed to be a relief to her suffering.
On Oct. 27, 1928, she was brought from a diabetic sanatorium at West Bend to the sanatorium and Onalaska, where she was a patient until Oct. 6, 1929, where, by the will of God she was relieved and called to rest.
She leaves to mourn her death, besides her children, two brothers, Gottlieb and Charles Wincher, and one sister, Mrs. George Galster.
Funeral services were held at the Grace Evangelical Church at Alma Center Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Munderloh officiating. Interment in the East Lawn Cemetery. Those from away who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Will Hanusa, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Hanusa, and Mrs. Maude Malchow of Chicago; Arnold Hanusa from Chateau, Mont; Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Gergolia and son Edward, R.C. Schwaner, and Mrs. Lena Hanusa from Logansville; Mrs. Geo. Welfel and son Marvin from Racine, Mrs. John Hemlich and daughter Emma from Merrimac; Mr. and Mrs. Funk from Augusta.

Death20 June 2008Albert Duve Jr. died on 20 June 2008 at age 82 Albert "Al" Duve Jr., age 82, of Prairie du Chien, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 20, 2008, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse. He was born on June 26, 1925, in Potosi, the son of Albert and Emma (Kreiser) Duve Sr. Al was a World War II Air Force Veteran and a 1949 graduate of UW-Madison. On Sept. 10, 1949, he was united in holy matrimony with Janice Pluemer at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Tennyson. Together they raised three adopted children. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, The Eagles, and the American Legion. He had his own insurance company and tax return service. He was Executive Director of Prairie Federal Savings and Loan which became Anchor Bank, from which he retired as Regional Vice President in 1992. He continued his charitable activities with the Blackhawk Apartments, Father Paul Fagan of Tanzania, and St. John's Parish. One of Al's favorite pastimes was fishing with his two buddies, Arnie and Father Paul. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a loyal friend. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Janice Duve of Prairie du Chien; a son, Thomas (Jill) Duve of Baton Rouge, La; two daughters, Theresa (Matthew) Langreck of Holmen, Wis. and Jean Ann (Michael) Berghammer of Janesville; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Bernard (Dorothy) Duve of Sun City, Ariz; and a sister, Elizabeth "Betty" O'Connor of Glen View, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and three brothers. A Mass of Christian burial and a celebration of Al's life will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2008, the day of his birth, at 11 a.m. at ST. JOHN'S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Prairie du Chien, with Father James Warosh S.J. officiating. Burial in the Calvary Cemetery in Prairie du Chien with military rites accorded. Family and friends may call on Wednesday, June 25, 2008, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the GARRITY FUNERAL HOME in Prairie du Chien, with a Rosary service at 4:15 p.m., an Eagles tribute at 7 p.m. and Wake Scripture Services at 7:30 p.m. Military Honors will be accorded by the Prairie du Chien Honor Guard.
