He managed to raise six young children on his own because of his determination to keep his family together. He loved being a farmer and was happiest sitting behind the wheel of a tractor in the spring planting the next season's crop or in the fall helping out his neighbors by making stacks. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and especially loved swapping tall tales with his friends in the Monogramming Department at Land's End. There wasn't a church chicken BBQ he didn't like and he made it to every polka mass within a 100 mile radius of Spring Green. The family would especially like to thank the staff at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie in Sauk City for their outstanding care of Robert in his later years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 12:00 noon at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Plain with Father Christopher Padilla officiating.
