She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin A. Klitzke on February 19, 2000; her parents; a brother, Lawrence Sass, and two sisters, Mildred Rosella Banichi and Anna Marie Madden. She is survived by her children: Lou Ann (James) Byrnes of Wonewoc, Diane (Terry) Geyman of Rock Springs, Dennis (Julie) Klitzke of Rock Springs; granddaughters: Sue (Devin) Reich, Tracey (Chad) Davis, Lisa (Dan) Harrison, Jamie Geyman, Mandy Geyman and Hannah Klitzke; great-grandchildren: Alexis Davis, Mara Davis and Charity Reich; her brothers and sisters: Rose Mary Leake of Oxford, Fred Sass of Reedsburg, Betty (Jerry) Langenfeld of Eldorado, Bert (Marv) Klitzke of Stoughton, Jerry (Violet) Sass of Wonewoc, John (Yvonne) Sass of Brighton, Tennessee, Clarence (Sharon) Sass of Arlington, Bonnie (John) Berndt of Reedsburg, Mary Ann Sass of Baraboo; nieces, nephews, cousins, along with other relatives and friends. On Aug. 8, 1964, John was united in marriage to Yvonne VanSlambrouck, in Germany. This marriage was blessed with five children. Yvonne preceded him in death in 2003.

    John is survived by four daughters, Karen Sass of Brighton, Tennessee, Sandra Sass of Covington, Tennessee, Pamela (Richard) Cahaly of Belmont, Massachusetts, and Catharine (Kelly) Petty of Wentzville, Missouri; one son, Jeffrey Sass of Sparta; seven grandchildren, Emma, Ben, Zach, Jay, Katie, Christina and James; four sisters, Rosemary Leake, Betty Langenfeld Bertha Klitzke and Bonnie Berndt; three brothers, Freddy Sass, Jerry Sass, and Clarence Sass.

    He was also preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Anne, Louella, Rosella and Mary Ann; and a brother, Lawrence.

    A Mass of Christian burial for John J. Sass will be conducted at noon Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Reedsburg, with Father David Carrano officiating. Private family burial will take place Friday in Calvary Cemetery, Ironton. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the church.

    Farber Funeral Home, Reedsburg, is assisting the family with the arrangements.

     Henry and Louise (GADE) HARMS had eight children: Frederick married Martha HARTIG, and resided in Westfield; William married Elsie GOETSCH, a resident of north Westfield; Mary, wife of Walter GOETSCH, a farmer in the town of Washington; Henry married Amanda PETERS, and residing in the northwest corner of Washington; Dorothea, wife of Albert KOENECKE, a farmer on Babb's Prairie, town of Reedsburg; Ludwig married Emma ROEWER, living in Westfield, and on the HARMS farm; Ernest, married Loraine ZIMMERMAN, of Loganville, and resides in that village, and Lydia, wife of Paul MEYER of Westfield; they occupy the Fred MEYER, his father's homestead. of Henry Harms have been identified with Sauk County. The first work
he did in the county was, as a harvest man, and the accumulations that have made him one of the most prosperous farmers in Westfield Township have been the result of a slow and toilsome progress.
Mr. Harms was born in Germany, November 14, 1852, a son of Frederick and Margaret (Bodenstab) Harms. The family came to Sauk
County in 1869, settling in Westfield Township, where his father hired
out his services toi others for several years, but about 1873 bought the land where his son Henry now lives. The old homestead consisted of eighty acres and its first improvement was a log house. It was gradually brought under cultivation, and the father lived there for a. number of years, finally going out to Nebraska with his son William. He died in that state in 1917, at the advanced age of ninety-three years and three months. Iis wife also passed away in Nebraska, aged ninety-one, in 1915. Thus they were of hardy and vigorous stock and their lives were prolonged beyond the normal expectation of years, though both of them were hard workers. They were active members of the Lutheran Church. Their five children were Henry, William, Dorris, Fritz and Catherine. Dorris died in 1915, at the age of fifty-six. Henry Harms acquired his early education in Germany. 'He was old enough to do a full day's work when he arrived in Sauk C'ounty in July, 1869, and a few days later he was earning a wage as a harvest hand in Dane County, Wisconsin. For several years he worked; saved and finally invested his earnings in the old homestead of eighty acres. He has since added two other eighties, making his home farm 240 acres. Still another eighty came under his ownership, but he sold that to his son Frederick and later he bought 160' acres which is now owned by his son William. All these tracts of land are in Westfield Township and they represent a
splendid estate for one family. Mr. Harms has invested much of his income in buildings and other improvements, and he has one of the finest barns in the township, 42 by 108 feet in ground dimensions. Many years ago Mr. Harms had some experience in hop growing, formerly one of the chief industries of the county. He runs a fine dairy of Holstein cattle, keeping about forty head of cows besides a large amount of young stock. He has rendered public service on the school board and is an active republican. He and his family worship in the Lutheran faith. In 1880 Mr. Harms married Miss Louisa Gade. She was born at Reedsburg, Wisconsin, in 1858, a daughter of Fred and Dora (Schroeder) Gade. Her parents, both now deceased, were among the pioneer settlers of Reedsburg. Mr. and Mrs. Harms have eight children, the four younger ones still living at home. Frederick, the oldest, married Martha Hartig, who died in 1904. The son William, another practical and progressive young farmer of Westfield Township, married Elsa Goetsch. Henry married Amanda Peters. The daughter Mary is the wife of Wlalter Goetsch. The four younger children at home are Dora, Ludwig, Ernest and Lydia. Henry J. Harms immigrated in 1869.

     Frederick HARMS, a German immigrant of about 1870, settled on a farm on the Westfield-Reedsburg boundary line. He was married in Germany to Louise BODENSTAB, and their five children, Henry, William, Dorothea, Frederick, and Catherine, were born there. Henry, who married Louise GADE, purchased his father's farm in later years, where he resided and which he still owns.
