Lenore was a loving and caring person; she never married but never missed a chance to care for and love her nephews and nieces. No birthday was complete with out Norrie's famous cake.

She loved playing the piano, dancing with her nephews and most of all playing bingo.

Lenore was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Jack, sisters and brother-in-law, Jean Anderson, Mary Doris and Babe Maloney and Betty Ann Harrington.

Survivors include a brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nephews, nieces, great great-nephew and niece [survivor's names omitted].

Relatives and friends may call after 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Patrick's Church, from where memorial services will follow at 11 a.m. Interment: St. Patrick's Cemetery.

Lawrence was born on the family farm in Plain on Sept. 11, 1916, son of the late Frank and Frances (Bayer) Brechtl. He married Kathryn E. Ganser on Jan. 17, 1939, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Sauk City. They lived in Sauk City for a short time where Lefty worked for Frank and Helen Kirchstein at their market on Water Street. They moved back to Plain and lived on the Mike Alt Farm and later took over the family farm which they ran until it was sold to the Franklin Plain Corporation in 1967. That property is now homes in the Westbrook subdivision and part of the Westbrook Golf Course. After his retirement from farming, he drove school bus for the River Valley School District, served on the Village of Plain Board of Trustees, and was a member of the Sauk County Board of Supervisors for more than 25 years. Some of his best times were spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, visits with his siblings to the Nachreiner cabin and an "occasional" stop at the casino. Besides his wife of 66 years, Kathryn, survivors include a daughter, Linda (Herb) Paulus of Plain; three grandchildren, Dan (Deb) Paulus of Spring Green, Genny Paulus of Plain, and Jody (Darren) Breunig of Sauk City; and three great-grandchildren, Sheyanne and Zachary Paulus, and Riley Breunig. He is further survived by a brother, Victor (Marinanne) Brechtl of Monona; and three sisters, Florence (Norbert) Hellenbrand of Cross Plains, Marie Liegel and Imelda (Ferdie) Nachreiner of Plain. Besides his parents, he was preceded by a brother, Herb Brechtl; and sisters, Alma Alt Ruhland and Irene Schweiss. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2005, at ST. LUKE'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, Plain. Father Mike Resop will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 3 p.m. until the time of service all at the church in Plain. Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home, Spring Green, is in charge of the arrangements.

She was born on April 16, 1919, on the family farm in Sauk City to Christ and Genevieve (Uslemann) Ganser and graduated from Sauk City High School. She was married to Lawrence “Lefty” Brechtl on January 17, 1939 in Sauk City. They eventually settled on the Brechtl Family farm in Plain which later became the Westbrook subdivision and part of the Westbrook golf course. Kate was a member of St Luke’s Catholic Congregation, its ladies CCW and quilting group, the Adult choir and the Catholic Order of Foresters. She was a project leader for many years for the St Luke 4-H club and drove school bus for the River Valley school district. An avid reader, she was instrumental along with a core group in creating a public library in Plain, serving for 27 years on its Board of Directors. She continued reading until her eyesight deteriorated.

Family was her first priority and so enjoyed being a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She maintained her beautiful smile and sense of humor to her final days. Survivors include her daughter Linda (Herb) Paulus of Plain, Grandchildren Dan (Deb) Paulus and Genny (Steve Zick) of Spring Green, and Jody (Darren) Breunig of Prairie du Sac; Great-Grandchildren Sheyanne and Zachary Paulus and Riley Breunig; a sister Irene(Howard) Frey and a sister-in-law Phyllis Ganser both of Sauk City, many nieces, nephews, family and friends and everyone at the Meadows who have been her family for the past nine years. Kate loved all of you and we sincerely want to thank them, Home Health Hospice, Fr. Mike Resop and Sister Lynne Marie for your care and concern. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, brothers, Victor, Carleton, Eugene and Dan and sister, Mildred Badger. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 10, 2015 at 4:30 P.M. at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Plain. Fr. Mike Resop will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday at the church from 3:00 P.M. until the time of Mass at 4:30 P.M. Memorials may be made to the Kraemer Library or to St. Luke’s Catholic School Endowment Fund.

He was born on Sept. 20, 1922, in Plain, Wis., the son of Frank and Frances (Bayer) Brechtl. Vic graduated from St. Luke’s High School, in Plain, Wis. in 1941. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II, as a gunner's mate, 2nd class. He also served on three different ships in the Pacific, including Hawaii, Australia, and invasions in New Guinea, Biak, Marshall, Guam and the Philippine Islands. Vic married Marianne Flager of Pardeeville at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Madison on Aug. 25, 1951. He was a member of the Painter's Local Union No. 802 since 1946, before his retirement from the University of Wisconsin-Paint Department.
He was also a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Madison Elks Lodge, UW Service Club, American Legion Post No. 398, and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for 20 years.
Vic enjoyed vacations with his family, deer hunting with friends in northern Wisconsin, golf, bowling and fishing. He and Marianne enjoyed traveling in their R.V. and camping in state and national parks. Along with sight-seeing they visited state capitals national parks and presidential libraries. They enjoyed spending time together seeing all 50 states and they also had the pleasure of going to Europe eight times. Vic was very proud of his service in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and he had the honor of going on a Badger Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. in May of 2014. Vic is survived by his wife, Marianne; daughter, Ginny (Jon) Jenson of Madison; son, Mark Brechtl (Julien Brugere) of London; three grandsons, David Jenson of Madison, Andrew Jenson of Palo Alto Calif., and Matthew Jenson (Mallory) of Chicago Ill; and sister, Imelda (Mel) Nachreiner. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Thomas; two brothers, Herbert and Lawrence “Lefty”; and four sisters, Alma Ruhland, Irene Schweiss, Florence Hellenbrand and Marie Liegel. A celebration of life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 14, 2019, with Father Chad Droessler presiding. Burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday, June 14, 2019.

Marie is survived by a daughter, Peggy Liegel; two sons, Gilbert and Konrad (Karen) Liegel; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Victor (Marianne) Brechtl; a sister, Imelda Nachreiner; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Frances Brechtl; her husband, Michael Liegel; a daughter, Karen Liegel at the age of 3; two sons, Michael and Franklyn Liegel; two brothers, Herbert and Lawrence Brechtl; three sisters, Alma Alt Ruhland, Irene Schweiss and Florence Hellenbrand.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018, at 11 a.m., at ST. LUKE’S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Plain. Father John Silva will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11 a.m.

Memorials may be made to St. Luke’s Catholic Church. The Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home in Spring Green is assisting the family with the arrangements.
