He was the son of John Peter Franklin Barrone and Estella M. Sprang.
Death11 December 2009Edward C. Barrone Sr. died on 11 December 2009 at age 85 Edward C. Barrone Sr., 85, of Loves Park passed away Dec. 11, 2009, with his family at his side. A wonderful single father of five children, he spent everyday of his life giving unselfishly of his heart or anything else he had. He was the youngest of five children, born to John and Estella Barrone in Michigan on Dec. 12, 1923. Ed served his country proudly in the United States Army during World War II from 1943-1944. After returning to Rockford, he married Angelina Baraconi, and they brought into this world five children. In 1985, he retired from Mechanics Universal Joint Co. after 30 years of loyal service. The tireless soul that he was, he also worked as a maintenance man for Beef-a-Roo/Skeets restaurant chain for more than 40 years. Ed's doors were always open to anyone, and he spent his life helping others get a fresh start, asking nothing in return but respect that was well-deserved. He enjoyed tinkering around the house, spending time with his grandchildren, cooking (eating), watching old cowboy movies and relaxing in the hot tub. For the past two years, his retired son, Edward, and wife, Sharon, have been giving him the most TLC at their beautiful mountain log cabin home in Sweetwater, Tenn. For this we are eternally grateful; thank you from the bottom of our hearts. And a special thanks to nephew, David D. Barrone, from Michigan. Ed will be missed by many but is survived by his loving children, Edward C. (Sharon) Barrone Jr. of Sweetwater, Diane K. Fox, of Machesney Park, Lillian Wales of DeForest, Wis., Gerald A. (Patty) Barrone of Rockford and Daniel L. (Sharon) Barrone of Machesney Park; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Johnney and Raymond; sisters, Ethel Bostick and Mary Barrone; and grandson, Blake Barrone. Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, in Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, with visitation from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m; the Rev. Ron C. Meyer will officiate. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to St. Judes Children's Hospital. Condolences can be made online at mem.com.
