She was born on May 10, 1935 in the Township of Greenwood, Vernon County, the daughter of Bernie and Elsie (Eastman) Olson. Bonnie was a1953 graduate of Reedsburg High School and the Sauk County Normal School. On June 25, 1955, she was married to Dean Labansky. Bonnie taught at Oak Hill School near LaValle, Allen School near Hillpoint and the Lime Ridge Grade School. She later worked as a bookkeeper with Reedsburg Sanitation for twenty-five years. Bonnie was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Sauk County Homemakers. She enjoyed baking in her spare time. Survivors include her three children: Joseph (Stacey) Labansky, of LaCrosse; Kevin (Kris) Labansky, of Reedsburg and Linda (Rick) Schenck, of Baraboo; her daughter-in-law: Debbie Labansky, of Reedsburg; eleven grandchildren; one sister: Alverda (John) Wilson, of Chatham, Illinois; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean, on September 16, 2009 and her son: Kurt Labansky, on August 1, 2012. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at the United Methodist Church in Reedsburg with Pastor Marvin Singh officiating. Interment will be at the Oak Lawn Cemetery in LaValle. The family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at the Hoof Funeral Home in Reedsburg and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the church. Memorials to the charity of your choice would be appreciated. The family would like to give special thanks to Melissa Shelstad and Judy Heiser for being such close and reliable friends also to Darren Helm, her grandson, for the care he gave to Bonnie over the years. The Hoof Funeral Home is serving the family.

Death26 November 2022Joanne Duren died on 26 November 2022 at age 91 Joanne Duren was elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly in November 1970, and served the people of Southwest Wisconsin in that position for 12 years. In January 1983, she became the first woman to serve as Chief Clerk of the Wisconsin State Assembly and served in that post for four years.

Joanne began her career as a secretary in the Madison Rotary Club office after graduating from Madison Business College in 1950. She had varied secretarial positions with a large corporation at Badger Ordnance Works, Baraboo, and with attorneys at Fowell and Keegan at Richland Center, Wisconsin. She also operated her own secretarial business at Richland Center from 1968 to 1971, and worked at the State Capitol as a secretary during sessions before becoming a candidate for the State Assembly.

Joanne served as an alternate delegate for Jimmy Carter at the Democratic National Convention held in New York City in July 1976.

Joanne Duren was born in Cazenovia, Richland County, Wisconsin on October 11, 1931, the youngest of seven children of Frank and Henrietta Duren. She lived in Wisconsin until her retirement to Tucson, Arizona in January of 1987.

In Tucson, Joanne was employed by Pima Community College to prepare for the North Central Evaluation in the early 1990's. After completion of that project, Joanne Duren served two years as Assistant Activity Director at Carondelet Holy Family Center nursing home. Her volunteer work included her church, Our Lady Queen of All Saints, the ALS Association, and Mobile Meals of Tucson.

Joanne Duren is survived by her sister-in-law Connie Giacalone; and 15 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her siblings Lucille Richart, George Duren, Marcella Anderson, Irene Soltwedel, Robert Duren, and James Duren.

A Prayer Service for Joanne Duren will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Cazenovia. Father Nathan Thainase will be the officiant. Burial will follow in St. Anthony’s Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service.

She enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, and watching birds. Her favorite pastime was fishing.

Margaret was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Catherine Kever, brothers, Francis and Bernard Bauer.

She is survived by her sisters: Monica Bauer of Rockford, IL,

Yvonne (Robert) Straka of Reedsburg;

Brother, Eugene Bauer of Lime Ridge;

Numerous nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends.

We will celebrate Margaret’s life with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon on Friday, June 29, 2012, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Reedsburg, with Father Thomas Monaghan officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church. Burial will take place at 3:30 PM in St. Luke’s Cemetery, Plain.

He is survived by his sister, Yvonne (Bob) Straka of Reedsburg. He is also survived by his children, Eugene Bauer of Lime Ridge, David (Tammy) Bauer of Hillpoint, Vincent (Denise) Bauer of Lime Ridge, Mary (Richard) Robel of Reedsburg, and Melissa (Matt) Krueger of Lime Ridge; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Eugene Bauer will be conducted on at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 17, 2015 at the Cazenovia Chapel in Cazenovia with Deacon Ron Pickar officiating. Burial will be made in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Germantown. Friends may call on Friday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the chapel.

Gale and Ruth built and operated the Copper Springs Motel in Reedsburg for many years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Reedsburg, where she was the Past President of the Presbyterian Women. She enjoyed solving crossword puzzles in the daily newspaper, crocheting and traveling. Above all, she enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Percy and Archie Pearson; step-mother, Zelpha Pearson.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Leslie Parkhurst of Reedsburg;

Grandchildren: Amanda (Charles) Goodrich of Wisconsin Dells,

Allen Lange of Reedsburg;

Great grandchildren: Darius, Logan and Carlie Goodrich;

Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Reedsburg. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church and on Friday from 12 noon until the time of the service at the church. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in lieu of flowers.
