Item. I give to my son Thomas Foster one Negro woman named Phillis & one child of woman, both which sd. Negro & child he has now in his possession, to him & his heirs forever..
Item. I give & Bequeath unto my son in Law James Frazer, one Negro Girl named Jenny, to him & his heirs forever..
Item. I give & Bequeath unto my Grandson Anthony Bartlett, one Negro girl named Sarah, and to my Grandson Edmund Bartlett one Negro man named Sancho, to them and their heirs forever. But in case the sd. Anthony and Edmund Bartlett should die before they attain to Lawfull age, or without issue Lawfully begotten, the sd. negro or negros to go to the next Lawfull heir of Thomas Bartlett, the father of the sd. Anthony & Edmund, Which Heir shall be Lawfully b’gotten by Mary, the Present Wife of the said Thomas Bartlett, and in case of Default of such issue, then the said Negros and their increase to go to my son Thomas Foster & his Heirs forever. I give & Bequeath unto my Grandson Anthony Crutcher one Negro Girl named Judy, now in the possession of his father Thomas Crutcher, and to my Grandson Thomas Crutcher one Negro Girl named Frank, which is likewise in the possession of his Father Thomas Crutcher - But in case the said Anthony & Thomas Crutcher should both die before they attain to lawfull age, or without issue Lawfully begotten then I give the said Negroes & their increase to the Heirs of Thomas Crutcher by his present wife Martha, and in case of Default of such issue, Then I give the said Negroes & their Increase to my son Anthony Foster & his heirs forever, the said Thomas Crutcher and Martha his wife having the use of the said Negros During their Natural Lives..

I give and bequeath unto my Grandson Henry Foster the Land and Plantation Whereon his Father John Foster now lives containing about five hundred acres, more or less, it being all the Land I hold on the upper, or west side of the Pamunkey road & adjoining to my son Anthony Foster’s Land, to him & his heirs forever..

In the name of God Amen November the fourteenth Anne domini one thousand seven hundred and six I JOHN GATEWOOD of South Farnham Parish Essex County, planter being very sick and weak of body but of sound and perfect memory praised by Almighty God for the smae doe make and ordaine this to be my last will and testament viz;
I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God my maker hoping through the meritorious death and passion of Jesus Christ my only Savior and Redeemer to receive free pardon of all my sins and a joyfull resurrection at the last day and as for my body I give it to my mother of Earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executrix or my Executor hereafter named and as for my worldly estate that God hath sent me after my just dept and funeral charges are paid I dispose of in form and manner following.

Item - I give and bequeath unto my eldest daughter Frances Shackleford one shilling.
Item - I give unto my son RICHARD GATEWOOD the plantation I now live upon and all the land pertaining thereto to him and his heirs forever.
Item - I gve and bequeath unto my son THOMAS GATEWOOD one hundred and fifty acres of land lying and being the above sd county and parish being part of a Parcell of land that I formerly bought of Capt. Richard Haile now deceased it being also part of five thousand acres of land which did formerly belong unto Coll. Thomas Goodrich, Mr. Henry Awbrey and Major George Morrice all deceased I say to my son Thomas and his heirs forever.
Item - I give and bequeath unto my son HENRY GATEWOOD seventy five acres of land beginning at a Corner Tree standing against Simon Copners house who is now deceased and from thence running towards Joseph I. Billenders land till the seventy five acres are made out to my son HENRY GATEWOOD and his heirs forever. As also I give and bequeath unto my aforesd son HENRY GATEWOOD one six year old Stear and one cow and calfe and her increase to him and his heirs forever.
Item - I give and bequeath unto my daughter AMIE BURNETT four thousand pounds of sweetscented Tobb. and one bay mare with a blase in her face brande on the near buttock with this brand 3.
Item - I give and bequeath all the rest of my worldly estate whatsoever to equally divided one as much as the other between my three youngst children and my beloved wife AMIE GATEWOOD namely between my beloved wife and SARAH GATEWOOD and WILLIAM GATEWOOD and JAMES GATEWOOD.
Item - I do hereby disannull make void and deny all former wills, atestaments and legacies and bequests by me heretofore or at any time willed made given and bequesthed and do publish this to be my last will and testament making my beloved wife AMIE GATEWOOD and my son RICHARD GATEWOOD my sole executrix and executer.
