She was born on January 7, 1926 in Reedsburg, the youngest child of Ferdinand and Anna (Grantin) Schmidt. Dorothy was a 1943 graduate of Reedsburg High School. On November 10, 1943, she was married to Allen A. Zautke. Dorothy worked at Industrial Coils in Baraboo, The Big Store and lastly at Ted and Fred's grocery store in the bakery department. She will be remembered as an excellent seamstress who also enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and making wine. Dorothy was an active member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Rock Springs. Survivors include three children: Linda McWane, of Green Lake; LaVonne Zautke, of Reedsburg and Steven (Judy) Zautke, of Ridgeway; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen, on March 7, 2004; two sons: Larry and Gene; a granddaughter: Tiffany Westedt; eight brothers: Kenneth, Elmer, Wilbert, Herbert, Harold, Raymond, Ferdinand and Arnold; and one sister: Ruth Nelson. Memorial services will be held at a later date at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Rock Springs.
