----------------
Asenith Evans Tish, resident of Searsboro, daughter of William and Alice Evans, was born near Forest Home on February 25, 1855, and departed this life at Community hospital, Grinnell, Tuesday, January 7, 1936, at the age of 80 years.
She was the last of a family of eight children. She was united in marriage to Jasper Tish of Searsboro in 1872. To this union four children were born. Three, with her husband, preceded her in death. She leaves one son, Earl ( Ellis Luvern Tish not Earl ) , who has been with her constantly and lovingly cared for her for many years.
The deceased was an earnest Christian and a consistent follower of her Lord in all things ; one who was always ready to help and extend a helping hand to those who were in need. She will be missed for her tender sympathy and help in times of sickness and death. She leaves to mourn an irreparable loss, one son; a granddaughter, Mrs. Earl Brown of Grinnell, who was raised in the home, her mother having passed away when she was a small child; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, all of whom are souly bereaved and have the sympathy of all who knew them.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon from the Friends church at Searsboro by the Rev. E.M. Gregson. Interment was made at West Liberty cemetery. The Rebekah lodge of Searsboro had charge at the grave.

Birth8 April 1852Jasper H. Tish was born on 8 April 1852 at Millwood, Knox, Ohio.
He was the son of Samuel Randolph Tish and Alice Catherine Shafer.
Marriage14 January 1872Jasper H. Tish married Asenith Elizabeth Evans, daughter of William Lewis Evans and Dolly Glass, on 14 January 1872 at Searsboro, Poweshiek, Iowa.
Death7 January 1908Jasper H. Tish died on 7 January 1908 at Searsboro, Poweshiek, Iowa, at age 55 Jasper Tish was born at Millwood , Ohio , April 8th, 1852, and died at his home east of Searsboro on January 7, 1908 , aged 55 years , 8 months and 29 days.
He moved from Ohio with his parents in 1857 and has since made his home nearly all the time on the farm where he died. He was one of a family of eight children, one sister dying in childhood. The rest of Mr. Tish's brothers and sisters were present at the funeral last week.
Deceased was married January 14, 1872, to Asenith Evans and to them were born four children, three girls and a boy. The son is the only child living. One granddaughter has made her home with them since the death of her mother when she was a little over a year old. They, with his wife, live to mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband and father.
Mr. and Mrs. Tish joined the Friends church in Searsboro in 1905 and have been earnest, active members. Mr. Tish was a carpenter by trade and many are the fine buildings in and for miles around Searsboro that will show with what skill his work was done. He also owned, with his brother, a threshing machine and so had become well acquainted with people for many miles around. He was honest and upright in his dealings, a good neighbor, an honored citizen. He has filled the office of justice of the peace, constable, road supervisor, and at the time of his death was president of the school board of the independent district of Searsboro.
While working on a large barn for Elwood Johnson he developed a very severe cold which developed into Spinal meningitis. He was confined to his bed about two weeks. He knew his life was drawing to a close, told his wife he would not get well and made arrangements as to what he wanted done. He died early Tuesday morning and at 2 p.m. Wednesday his remains were taken to the Church of Christ east of Searsboro, and there laid to rest beside those of his three daughters.
The funeral was conducted by M. Gregson , who spoke from the text . " it is appointed unto men once to die and after that the judgment ."
