Gary was born in Mills County, Texas, September 19, 1946 and grew up in San Angelo, graduating from San Angelo Central High School. He served in the Navy Reserve from 1966-1967. Gary worked for GTE and was transferred to Guymon, Oklahoma where he also served with the Guymon Volunteer Fire Dept. and was a member of the Guymon Pioneer Days PRCA Rodeo. Gary married Lawanna Behne and was a loving father to Jeff (Summer) Beyne of Guymon, Oklahoma, Tate (Cindy) Behne of Allen, Texas and Jana (Greg) Gibson of Texas. He is survived by grandchildren Haylee Behne, Skylar Behne, Dax Behne, Zane Behne, Vanna Behne, Braedon Gibson, Kellen Gibson and Gavin Gibson. He returned to San Angelo in 2000 and joined the Tom Green County Sheriff's where he retired after 13 years of service. He was also a longtime member of the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo Association, which was his favorite pastime. He was to be inducted into the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame in Colorado Springs on August 6th but due to his failing health he was unable to attend. He was a loyal fan of San Angelo High Schools and ASU Sports. Gary is preceded in death by his parents John Richard Manos and Eura Belle Manos Kirby, his sister Corena Mae Chesser and numerous aunts and uncles. He will be missed by his nieces Cheryl Chesser of Houston, Texas; Janet Rick) Bliss of Cedar Creek, Texas and Karen (Dan) Graham of McKinney, Texas and brother in law J.L. Chesser of Garland, Texas. He is also survived by his aunt Marie (Bill) Daniel of Oklahoma and numerous cousins and friends. In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests you donate to your favorite charity. Homer Oran Saunders died on 14 February 2007 at age 84 Homer Oran Saunders, 84, of Abilene died Wednesday, February 14. Graveside services will be at Elmwood Memorial Park, 2:00 PM, Friday, under the direction of North's Funeral Home. Family will receive friends Thursday from 5:00 to 7:30 PM at North's Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange St. He served in the Army, joined the Cavalry right out of high school. He went to China, Burma and India. He married the Love of his life, Bobby Fornes, January 1, 1948. They moved to Abilene that same year. He worked in the oilfield as a truck driver, tool pusher, and drilling superintendent for Sojourner and DB Drilling and Links Drilling. His wife Bobby Saunders, and three sons, survive him; Ric, Roy and Rusty Saunders, one daughter in law Jamie, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
