She enjoyed quilting, cats, gardening and flowers. Survivors include her sister: Ella (Bill) Zimmerman, of Reedsburg; her sister-in-law: Lorna Spohnholtz, of Reedsburg; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Harold, Edwin and Walter; and two sisters: Ruth Hintz and Lucille Post. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Loganville with Pastor Christopher Miller officiating. Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery. There will be a visitation from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service on Thursday at the church. Memorials to St. Peter's Lutheran Church would be appreciated. The Hoof Funeral Home is serving the family.

Agnes is survived by her two children: Sally (Greg) Hamm of Anchorage, Alaska, and Michael (Margaret) Backes of Arcadia; four grandchildren: Samuel Backes, Mary (Mar) Herrera, Lydia (Eric) Cisneros, Grace (fiancé, Andrew Sonsalla) Backes; one great- grandchild: Cameron Herrera; one sister: Joyce (Dave) Williams ; and one brother: William Slaney.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul on September 25, 2005, sisters: Marcella Slaney, Monica Ballweg, Erma Sarahan (her twin), Marjorie Faultersack; brothers: Lyle, Maurice and George Slaney.

A funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Parish-St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Arcadia on Friday, August 16, 2019 at 11:00 AM with Father Kyle Laylan officiating.

She later took a job with the Iowa County Highway and Sheriff's Department as a secretary, and later retired from the Wisconsin Department of Taxation in Madison. She was proud of her Irish heritage, enjoyed bowling, visits to the casino, traveling with her husband, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, LaVern of Roxbury; three stepsons, Doug (Myra) Ballweg of Roxbury, Randy Ballweg of Pensacola, Florida, and Troy Ballweg of Madison; 5 step-grandchildren, Brian (Cindy) Ballweg, Brent (Angel) Ballweg, Sarah (Matt) Reich, Taurry Ballweg, and Jamie Ballweg; five siblings, Agnes Backes, Erma (Charles) Sarahan, Marjorie (LeRoy) Faultersack, Joyce (David) Williams, and William (Carolyn) Slaney; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lorna Slaney, Lois Slaney, Darlene Ballweg, Melvin (Alice) Ballweg, Margie (Romie) Ripp, Kathy Ballweg, Carol Jean (Don) Acker, Martin (Kathy) Ballweg, Marlene (Marvin) Hellenbrand, Phyllis (Milo) Breunig, Lois Krantz, Patsy Jessing, and Sharon Ballweg; many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was born at home in Springfield Corners area on March 7, 1930 to the late Frank and Elizabeth (Laufenberg) Ballweg. He grew up and attended St. Martins Catholic School in Martinsville. Lavern worked for the Roxbury Sanitary District for 30 years and as the Roxbury Township Town Patrolman for 52 years, mostly looking forward to operating the road grader. He was united in marriage to Maxine Heyroth in June of 1953, and later Monica Reeves in August of 1978. Lavern enjoyed the Midget Racing at Angel Park Speedway, bullhead fishing, playing guitar, and time spent with family.

He is survived by his three children; son, Doug and Myra and their family, Brian (Teri Henn) and Allison and Lillian; Brent (Angel) and Kyle (Amara), Krysta and Kaylen; Sarah (Matt) Reich and Riley; son, Randy Ballweg; and son, Troy (Jackie Johnson) Ballweg, and their family, Tori (Brian) Welch and Jamie (Kyle) Pierce; 5 sisters, Carol (Don) Acker, Phyllis (Milo) Breunig, Patricia Jessing, Lois Krantz and Sharon Ballweg; sisters and brothers in-law, Kathy A. Ballweg, Kathy M. Ballweg, Marilyn Ballweg, Darlene Ballweg, Alice Ballweg, Marv Hellenbrand, Romie Ripp, Donald Heyroth. Lavern is further survived by countless nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, along with a good friend and neighbor Richard Fassbender.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife, Monica and the mother of his children, Maxine Heyroth; brothers, Danny, Roger, Melvin, Wilford, Martin, Clarence; sisters, Marjorie Ripp, Lucille Ballweg, Marlene Hellenbrand and brother in-law, Roger Heyroth.

A private Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 18th, 2022 at St. Christopher Catholic Parish, 301 Main St., Verona. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Survivors include two sons: Merriwell "Butch" (Mary) Huebing Jr., of Oxford, Florida and Gary (Kathy) Huebing, of Baraboo; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merriwell, on April 3, 2009; her daughter: Rosemary Gilson; two grandsons: Mark Gilson and Todd Huebing; her parents; her stepfather: Albin Malmquist and two infant brothers. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at the United Methodist Church in Reedsburg with Pastor Marvin Singh officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Monday at the Hoof Funeral Home in Reedsburg. She was born on February 27, 1930 in the Town of LaValle, Sauk County, the daughter of George and Mabel (Palmer) Nachtigal. Tina was a 1949 graduate of Reedsburg High School. On June 24, 1950, she was married to Vern R. Westedt. She had worked at the Reedsburg Memorial Hospital for over thirty years. Tina enjoyed playing softball, golf, baking and gardening as well as spending time with her family. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Survivors include her two sons: Douglas (Patricia) Westedt, of LaValle and David (Dana) Westedt, of Reedsburg; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother: Arthur (Ramona) Nachtigal, of Reedsburg; two sisters: Lena Steinmetz, of Illinois and Thelma Hartje, of LaValle; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vern, on June 29, 2011; three brothers: Kenneth, William and Clyde Nachtigal; and three sisters: Bernice Schultz, Vivian Ritzer and Gladys Ziech. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, November 9, 2015 at St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church in Reedsburg with Pastor Tim Anderson officiating. Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery. There will be a visitation from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. on Sunday at the Hoof Funeral Home in Reedsburg and after 10:00 A.M. on Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Peter's Lutheran Church or the Sauk County Health Care Center Gazebo Fund would be appreciated. The Hoof Funeral Home is serving the family.

She was born on December 13, 1932, the daughter of Ernest and Ella (Lichte) Halvensleben and was raised on the family farm in the beautiful hills of Winfield Township. She graduated from Reedsburg High School in 1950 and attended Sauk County Normal School graduating in 1952. She received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from UW-Platteville in 1967. Elderene was married to Vernon Hasz on June 30, 1954. She taught 36 years in the Reedsburg area at Hay Creek, Pleasant View, South School and lastly at Westside School. Twice she was honored with the State of Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction District Teacher of the Year Award. She proudly participated in the Sauk County Retired Teachers Association where she maintained her professional relationships. Elderene is loved and will be missed by her children: Jim (Sue) Hasz, of Appleton; Sharon (Rick) Gale, of Germantown and LuAnn (Tim) Peterson, of Portage; brothers: Harold (Virginia) Halvensleben, of Janesville; Robert (Gloria) Halvensleben, of Reedsburg; Gary (Sally) Halvensleben, of Mosinee and Ronald (Sue) Halvensleben, of Reedsburg; her sister: Reta (Ivan) Thies, of Cottage Grove; six grandchildren: Kayla Hasz, of Beloit; Chelsea Hasz, of Tempe, AZ; Sara Gale, of Milwaukee; Kristin Gale, of West Allis; David Peterson and Matthew Peterson, both of Portage; many beloved nieces and nephews; countless family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon; her parents: Ernest and Ella and a sister: LaVonna Olson. She was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church where she was active in the Altar Guild and Ladies Aid. She enthusiastically volunteered for the Reedsburg Historical Society where she loved to reenact the history of the one-room school. She also volunteered at the Reedsburg Area Medical Center and the Reedsburg Area Senior Life Center. Elderene had an unwavering faith, a passion for teaching and caring for others and a deep love of travel. She traveled extensively with family and friends throughout the world and shared her travels with many civic groups. Her family meant the world to her and she was blessed with a "valley of love" as people came to visit during her illness. The life and memory of Elderene Hasz will be celebrated by family and friends on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at ST. PETER'S EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH in Reedsburg. Visitation will be held Friday, June 10, 2011 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the HOOF FUNERAL HOME. Immediately following the funeral services, family and friends are invited to gather at St. Peter's Concordia Hall to continue the celebration of Elderene's life. Halvensleben, age 82, of Windsor, formerly of Reedsburg, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at the William S Middleton Memorial Veteran’s Hospital in Madison with his family at his side. He was born on June 11, 1942, in Winfield Township, Sauk Co, WI, the son of Ernest and Ella (Lichte) Halvensleben.

Bob grew up on the family farm in rural Reedsburg. He attended Country School, St. Peter’s Lutheran Grade School, and was a 1960 graduate of Reedsburg High School. Bob proudly served his country in the US Army during the Berlin Crisis. Upon his return from the Army National Guard, Bob began farming the family farm. On April 22, 1972, Bob was united in marriage to Gloria Mae Thies. This marriage was blessed with three children. Bob retired from farming in 1997 and began working for Land’s End in Reedsburg.

An avid outdoorsman, Bob liked being in nature. He had a well-kept lawn and garden and enjoyed feeding and watching birds. In the Fall, Bob and Gloria often toured the countryside taking in the beautiful colors with family and friends.

Bob was a member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Reedsburg where he served on the church council and as an usher. He was a member of the American Legion Post #350. He was proud to have the opportunity to join the Badger Honor Flight in 2019, with his grandson. Bob enjoyed reading and stayed connected to the farming industry by reading farm related magazines. He had a knack for solving word finds and was comforted by listening to hymns and other relaxing music. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold; sister, Elderene (Vernon) Hasz, LaVonna (Hudson) Olson, sister-in-law, Sally Halvensleben.

Bob is survived his wife, Gloria; children, Michelle Halvensleben, Lori (Jason) Sterr, Brian (Heather) Halvensleben, grandchildren, Jordan (Morgan) Hoffman, Ethan and Evelyn Halvensleben; sister, Reta (Ivan) Thies, brothers, Gary Halvensleben, Ronald (Susan) Halvensleben; sister-in-law, Virginia Halvensleben; several nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends,

A memorial service for Robert Halvensleben will be conducted at 12 Noon on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Reedsburg with Pastor Shelley Nelson officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 6, from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church. Burial with Military Honors will be made in St. John Ev. Lutheran Cemetery, Reedsburg.
