Barbara was a gifted teacher who brightened the lives of children at church for almost five decades. Barbara is survived by her sons, Christian and Russell; her grandchildren, Ashleigh and Amanda; her great-grandchild, Easton; and her brother, Bruce. She was preceded in death by Matt, her husband of 44 years. A private graveside memorial was held on Aug. 7, 2020 at Willamette National Cemetery. |

Pastor Tim Peterson will preside. Lyle will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN. Pallbearers will be Tom Holm, Eric Holm, Mark Thomas, Jerry Buckner, Steve Holm, and Kim Holm. On November 10, 1927, Lyle was born in Minneapolis, MN to parents, Harry and Signa (Haugen Eide) Holm. He was a proud graduate of Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis. For many years, Lyle worked as a telephone technician for Northwestern Bell, US West and Qwest. Lyle enlisted in the United States Navy on January 28, 1946 and proudly served during WWII and throughout the South China Sea and Panama. During his time, Lyle was aboard the USS Seacat 399 Submarine. Later, he became a member of the Submarine Veterans of WWII and Submarine Veterans Inc. Lyle married Dorothy Healow, in Minneapolis, MN. He lived a very active life being a husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa. Lyle loved traveling to Norway to connect with relatives—he was extremely proud of his heritage and member of Nordfjordlaget. In his free time, Lyle loved duck hunting, fishing and cheering on the Minnesota Vikings. Lyle will remain in the hearts of his children, Gail Holm, Tom (Vicki) Holm, Jane (Mark) Thomas; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his other relatives and friends in the U.S. and Norway. There to greet Lyle in Heaven is his wife, Dorothy Holm; son, Gerald Holm; parents, Harry and Signa; siblings, Margie (Marvin) Boyd and H. James (Evelyn) Holm. |

He then joined the Minneapolis Fire Department, working alongside his brother, Richard "Dick" Haugen. Bob retired in 2000 as a Captain after 37 years. He married Clare Block on October 18th , 1969, after being set up on a blind date on New Year's Eve 1968. They settled in Burnsville in 1971 where Bob built most of their house himself. Bob and Clare then had 3 daughters: M'Lyse, Crisha, and Kiersta. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, ice fishing, boating, golfing, bowling, woodworking, World War II history, playing cribbage, and spending time with his family. He was also a Master Mason and was very active in the Scottish Rite and various Shrine Clubs in his younger years. Bob was quiet but had a great sense of humor and was always quick with a funny look or joke. He taught his daughters many things, among them how to laugh and enjoy life, and how to take care of themselves. Bob's greatest joys were "his 4 girls", then later in life that expanded to include his grandchildren Katalina and Caden. Bob is preceded in death by his parents Andy and Ethel, sister Joanne who died in infancy, and son-in-law Gavin Pugh. Bob will be dearly missed by his wife, Clare Haugen; daughters: M'Lyse Haugen, Crisha Pugh, and Kiersta Haugen; grandchildren, Katalina and Caden Pugh; brothers, Earl (Jeannie) Haugen and Richard (Lori) Haugen; nieces Lisa Stoy, Heidi Haugen, and Susan Richter, nephews Robert (Bob) Haugen and Julius (Jule) Block; and countless extended family and friends. He was also a long - time member of the Board of Directors of Cherokee State Bank, the CML Telephone Coop Board, and the Larrabee Coop Elevator. Jim was an elder in the Presbyterian Church of Cherokee and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Spirit Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dolores; and a sister. Jim is survived by a daughter, Ann Barry, and her husband, Rick, of Wahpeton; three sons, Jack Montgomery and his wife Mary Ann, of Larrabee; Dick Montgomery and his wife, Mary Jean of Spencer; and Tim Montgomery, and his wife Kim, of Edina, Minn; eleven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. |
