He is survived by his son, Richard Mortensen and Richs partner Jan; two grandsons, Jeff (Brenda) Mortensen and their children, Paige and Abby of Edgerton and Brian (Brandy) Mortensen and their children Cody and Bryce of Madison; two wonderful sisters Alaine Barr of Lodi and Norma (Delbert) Pearson of Florida; his brother in law, Cliff (Marge) Johnsen and many nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceeded in death by Norma, his beloved wife of 60 years; his parents; and four brothers, Skip, Clarence, Jack and Emery. A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010.

Traveling, hiking, and biking were among the many activities that Rich loved to do with his best friend and partner of 16 years, Jan. Most of all, Rich enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, especially his children and grandchildren. Rich is survived by his two sons, Jeff (Brenda) Mortensen and Brian (Connie) Mortensen; partner, Jan Zimmermann; and four grandchildren, Cody Mortensen, Bryce Mortensen, Paige Lowell and Abigail Lowell.
