Fern was employed by Elgin watch factory, she was a Legion Auxiliary member since 1942, and enjoyed watching her favorite football team the Packers, loved camping, cooking and helping where ever she was needed and the best darn co-pilot on the many road trips they all took together. She was preceded in death by her parents, and Husband, Ivan, Daughter; Maryanne Dean, grandson; James Pajon, Siblings; Billy, Donnie, Dolores, and Maxine. Survived by her granddaughters; Kristen Dean of Hebron, Kerry (Garrison) Semon of Rock Springs, Wyoming, as well as 12 loving great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 8, 2013 at 5:30 pm at the Frazier Funeral Home 621 S. Halleck Street DeMotte, Indiana 46310, where friends may visit from 12 noon until the time of services at 5:30pm.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 23, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Frazier Funeral Home, Todd Chapel, 621 Halleck, DeMotte, IN with cremation to follow services with interment to follow in DeMotte Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, May 22, 2005 from 2-8 p.m. at the Frazier Funeral Home, Todd Chapel.

Esther was born Jan. 28, 1916, in St. Paul, Minn., the daughter of Willy F. and Elizabeth (Winter) Scheel. She graduated from South Sioux City High School in 1933.

She married Homer E. Culley on Nov. 17, 1940, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sioux City. She worked for Johnson Biscuit Company and in her later years as an accountant in her husband's public accounting office.

She was a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church before becoming a member of Faith Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her husband, Homer of Sioux City; four sons, Dennis Culley of Union City, Calif., Linn Culley and his wife, Barb of Sioux City, Stanton Culley of Le Mars, Iowa, and Mark Culley and his wife, Deb of Kansas City, Mo; three grandchildren and their spouses, Brad and Linda Culley, Christopher and Joni Culley and Adam and Emily Culley; six great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mabel Greene of Denison, Iowa, and Eunice Miller and Alice Kruithoff, both of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister; and two brothers, Merle and Floyd.
