Married Name12 June 2020As of 12 June 2020,her married name was Meixelsperger.
Life EventDateDescription
Birth11 December 1957Janice Eileen Wavra was born on 11 December 1957.
Death26 August 2021She died on 26 August 2021 at age 63 Janice “Jan” Eileen Wavra Meixelsperger, age 63, of Lone Rock area, passed away at Agrace Hospice on Thursday, August 26, 2021 after a 1 ½ year battle with cancer. Her loving husband, Tim, was by her side.

Janice was born on December 11, 1957, in Rio, Wisconsin to Vernon and Ermina (Skaret) Wavra. She was the fourth of five children. She was raised in Rio and graduated from Rio High School in 1976. Janice was an accomplished student who graduated at the top of her class. She was active in many activities and music. She loved music, playing the flute and singing. She participated in the All-Conference Chorus and Band, District and State Solo and Ensemble competitions, and she received the school’s John Philip Sausa Award.

Janice went on to attend college at Madison Area Technical College in Madison, WI completing the Business Machines program. This is where she learned the administrative skills that prepared her for a 37-year career at the Credit Union National Association. Beginning as a clerk typist in League Services in 1982, she advanced through numerous positions including secretary to the president; senior executive secretary in economics, research and development; human resource administrator; publishing coordinator; learning events coordinator; and Membership Coordinator for CUNA Councils, from which she retired in January 2020.

Janice was a bright light in the presence of everyone. She loved Koala Bears and had a collection of everything Koala’s. She also enjoyed displaying her massive collection of collectable spoons from places she traveled to and visited. Her all-time favorite color was blue and she enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Though she never had any children of her own, she was a Godmother to her nieces Jennifer (Langsdorf) Mandeville and Amber (McCulley) Doss and a dog mom to Riley.

On June 12, 2020, she married her long-time partner and the love of her life, Tim Meixelsperger. They lived together for many years in Madison. Through the course of her cancer treatments, they continued planning and building their dream home in the Lone Rock area; where she was able to spend her final few months.

Janice is survived by her husband, Tim Meixelsperger; father, Vernon Wavra; siblings, Marlin (Gale) Wavra of Portage, Linda (John) Langsdorf of Sun Prairie, Nancy McCulley, and Larry Wavra, both of Rio; nieces, Marin Medema, Mardi (Tom) Neefe, Jennifer (Shannon) Mandeville, Kimberly Myrold, Amber (Calvin) Doss, and Kaitlin (Bobby) Rohwetz; nephew, Sean (Laura) McCulley. Also some great nieces and nephews, many in-laws, friends and former co-workers.

The family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses, and caregivers at the UW Carbone Cancer Center and Oncology Department at UW Hospital and Clinics for their compassionate and remarkable care. Also a thank you to all of the staff at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg for their tender loving care throughout her final days.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at the Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home in Spring Green. Pastor Paul Lundgren will officiate with burial in the St. Luke’s Catholic Cemetery in Plain, WI.
