She was bom Sept. 8, 1905, in Beloit, Wis., the eldest child of three boys and three girls bom to Mr. and Mrs. Daniel H. and Margaret Osborn, a Beloit businessman and alderman. Mary was a 1927 graduate of Beloit College. She married Mortimer G. Huber of Clinton, Wis., on Nov. 19, 1929, at St. Judes Parish in Beloit. After a brief time in Milwaukee, she and her husband moved to Madison, where they lived their entire adult lives and raised three boys. She resided at her home on West Lawn Avenue for 67 years, up to the time of her death. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mortimer G. Huber, a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Business School, who managed the Huber Farms complexes throughout southeastern Wisconsin. Mary Huber will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family, her commitment to her church, Blessed Sacrament Parish, and her many interests, including counterintuitively used television to introduce children to a world of books, may only have a few months to live. Reading Rainbow has several strikes against it in the battle for funding. For starters, it has no access to merchandise licensing deals, an increasingly important part of PBS funding scheme for childrens shows. There are no Reading Rainbow" action figures to sell, no Reading Rainbow jammies to keep kids warm at night. The series is also 20 years old when many corporate V music (especially playing piano), antiques, dance, bridge, cooking. Badgers games, Edge-wood High School, modeling and fashion. In the days of the Madison society pages, she was often described as one of Madisons most attractive women, regularly appearing in the newspaper for style shows, charitable causes, social and athletic events. At the time of her death she was a member of the Madison Club, Attic Angels, Blessed Sacrament Parish and the Catholic Womens League. She is survived by three sons and their wives, Mr. and Mrs. Mortimer G. Huber of Park Ridge, 111., Mr. and Mrs. Daniel R. Huber of Hilton Head, S.C., and Mr. and Mrs. James O. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 9, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. at BLESSED SACRAMENT CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2131 Rowley Ave., Madison, with the Rev. Stan Drongowski O.P. officiating. Friends may call on the family from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. preceding the Mass. A luncheon will be served in the Blessed Sacrament Friary immediately following the service. He served his military obligation in the US Army from 1955-1956 and was stationed in Germany. Mort and Susan Verthein were married on July 14, 1962. They began their life together in Park Ridge, IL. Mort was the oldest founding principal of Geneva Advisors, which was created in 2003, bringing more than 57 years of experience managing portfolios to the company. Mort looked at Geneva not just as a business but as his family. Prior to joining the firm, Mort was a Principal and Portfolio Manager at William Blair & Company for 25 years and a Vice President at A.G. Becker for 12 years. He began his career with the Continental Illinois National Bank & Trust Company where he managed corporate pension and profit sharing trusts. Mort admired history and was deeply devoted to tradition and family heritage. Mort and "Susie" were fond of antiques. His passion for classic antique cars led to a remarkable collection. Mort was an avid University of Wisconsin Badger and Green Bay Packer fan, skier and sports enthusiast. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. Mort was generous with himself in supporting others in their lifelong journeys. Mort is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Susan; loving children Margaret Mary (Mike) Hackworthy and Mary Beth Schell; cherished grandchildren Mary Kate and Annmarie Hackworthy and Ali, John and Isabella Schell; dear brothers Dan(Pat) and Jim(Joyce) Huber; special nieces and nephews; and many wonderful friends. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 27, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Ryan-Parke Funeral Home, 120 S. Northwest Hwy., Park Ridge, IL.
