He enjoyed working on cars and tractors as well as being able to identify various bird calls. Chuck was very proud of his children and grandchildren. Norma Jean Thoene was born on March 9, 1960 in Crofton, Nebraska to Damian Dennis and Helen E. (Pavelka) Arens. She grew up in the Bow Valley, NE area and graduated from Wynot High School in 1978. Norma worked at M-Tron Industries in Yankton and then married Dan Francis Thoene on June 16, 1979 in Bow Valley. Norma did child care in her home and then worked for Gurney's Seed & Nursery in Yankton. Norma also worked at Hardee's, the Sunshine Restaurant in the grocery store, and Yesterday's Cafe. She continued working at Yesterday's Cafe until five years ago when her health prevented her from working.

Norma Jean liked cooking, canning, gardening, and word searches. She enjoyed visiting with the public and also with her family. Norma loved her "Little House on the Prairie" in Fordyce.

Norma is survived by her husband Dan of Fordyce; son Bryan & wife Jonelle Thoene of Fordyce and their son Marcus "MJ"; daughter Brenda Thoene of Elkhorn, NE; mother Helen Arens of Hartington, two sisters Donna & Danny Heimes of Hartington, and Joan Arens of Frisco, TX; sister-in-law May Lynn Arens; brother-in-law Greg Johnson of Verdigre, NE; numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death was her father, Damian Arens; sister Dolores Johnson in 2007; brother Charles A. Arens on 2/2/16, brother Ronald C. Arens on 2/15/16; sister Bette Hamilton on 3/24/16; brother Roger Arens on 4/11/16.

Burial will be at Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Bow Valley. Visitation will be on Friday, at church, from 5-8:00 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at church on Saturday one hour prior to services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.

Ronald Charles Arens was born on October 14, 1965 in Yankton, SD to Damian D. and Helen E. (Pavelka) Arens. He grew up in the Bow Valley area and graduated from Wynot High School in 1984. After high school Ron helped his father on the farm. He then worked for many years at the Hartington Cheese Plant until his health prevented him from working. Ron had been a resident of Park View Haven Nursing Home in Coleridge for almost six years.

Ron loved farming, playing cards, tractor pulls, board games and loved his nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Ron is survived by his mother Helen Arens of Hartington; five siblings and spouses Donna and Danny Heimes of Hartington, Norma and Dan Thoene of Fordyce, Bette Hamilton of Crofton, Roger Arens of Hartington, and Joan Arens of Frisco, TX; brother-in-law Greg Johnson of Verdigre, NE; sister-in-law Mary Lynn Arens of Hartington.

He was preceded in death by his father Damian Arens; a sister Delores Johnson; and a brother Charles A. Arens on 2/2/2016; niece Heather Heimes; nephew Christopher Heimes; and great niece Janet Eckmann.

Roger Ronald Arens was born on October 14, 1966 in Yankton, SD to Damian Dennis and Helen E. (Pavelka) Arens. He was the seventh of eight children. He grew up in the Bow Valley area and graduated from Wynot High School in 1985. After graduating, Roger worked at Shurco and Northern Extrusions in Yankton, SD. He also worked at McDonald's and Hardee's in Yankton.

Roger loved playing cards, Blackjack, Rummy and going to the Fordyce Casino night. He enjoyed participating in county tractor pulls and attending national tractor pulls. Roger liked board games, farming, and talking to people at his restaurant jobs.

He is survived by his mother, Helen of Hartington; three sisters and their spouses Donna & Danny Heimes of Hartington, Norma and Dan Thoene of Fordyce, Joan Arens of Frisco, TX; sister-in-law Mary Lynn Arens of Hartington; brother-in-law Greg Johnson of Verdigre.
