She was the daughter of John Groves and Verna Dray.
Death19 November 2012Cleo Marie Groves died on 19 November 2012 at age 84 Cleo Marie Tootie Hasburgh passed away Nov. 19, 2012, at home surrounded by her family. Tootie was born Sept. 25, 1928, to John and Verna (Dray) Groves at home in Richland Center. She graduated in 1946 from Richland Center High School. During high school Tootie enjoyed working at Daughhetees Store and then later for the Commonwealth Telephone Company as a telephone operator in Richland Center. Tootie met the love of her life and best friend, Joseph Hasburgh, while dancing and they were married Nov. 20, 1951 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Richland Center. After the wedding they moved to Fort Hood, Texas where Joe was stationed in the U.S. Army. Following Joes return from the service they moved to Highland, where they farmed and raised their family. After her family was raised, she worked as a dedicated employee at Lands End for 17 years, retiring in 2003. Tootie had a zest for life and a heart of gold. She was always up for any outing whether it was going to the casino, dancing to the Jim Gorman Band, traveling out west, enjoying the many family reunions and get-togethers, and even touring a robotic milking parlor. Tootie and Joe had a way of bringing family and friends together. Everyone enjoyed coming to their house, talking around the kitchen table, playing cards, and telling stories. Tootie also enjoyed trying a new recipe and hearing a good joke. Tootie was always concerned with making sure everyone had enough to eat. Sometimes it wasnt much, a little of this, a little of that, but it was always served with love. Tootie was famous for her homemade apple pies and noodles. Joe and Tootie were proud members of a Highland area card party for more than 50 years. Along with playing cards once a month, the card party enjoyed trips around the country in a motorhome, celebrating anniversaries with mock weddings, and going out to dinner for birthdays and anniversaries. They also belonged to the Pulaski Area Community Club for many years. In Tooties younger years, she was involved with Pulaski homemakers and the Highland 10s softball team. Their motto was Were not getting older, were getting better. She loved watching all sports and rarely missed any of her children and grandchildrens sporting events. She was a loyal Packers and Badgers fan and never waivered when it came to Brett Farve. Tootie loved life whether she was out and about or home, but her latest saying was I can be home when there is no place else to go. Tootie was dedicated to her family and faith in God. Her strong faith in God was first and foremost and carried her through the final months of her life. She was a member of Saint Anthony and Phillips Catholic Church and the Ladies Alter Society. Survivors include her husband, Joseph of 61 years; children, Jack Hasburgh, Ronald Hasburgh (Leanne Laufenberg), William Hasburgh, and Patty Hasburgh all of rural Muscoda, Deb (Tom) Marshall and Franny Hasburgh (Doug Mueller) and son-in-law, Rod Reetz of Richland Center; grandchildren, Megan (Sean) Nelson with her first great-grandchild due any day, Morgan Hasburgh (Dan Reimann), Renee Reetz, Ryan Reetz (Cassie Rasmussen), Alex Marshall (Stephanie Schmitz), Andy Marshall and Cody Clark (Chelsi Anderson). Life EventDateDescription
Birth1 August 1955Sandra Ann Hasburgh was born on 1 August 1955 at Wisconsin.
She was the daughter of Cleo Marie Groves.
Death18 November 2006Sandra Ann Hasburgh died on 18 November 2006 at age 51 Sandra Ann Reetz, age 51, of Richland Center, passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2006, surrounded by family at her residence after a 19 month battle with cancer. Sandy was born August 1, 1955, in Richland Center, to Joe and Cleo "Tootie" (Groves) Hasburgh. She attended Highland and Riverdale Elementary School, and graduated from Riverdale High School in 1973. She received her bachelors degree in 1977 from UW-Platteville, where she was the first female to earn a degree in industrial arts. She was also the first female industrial arts teacher to be hired in the state of Wisconsin. Sandy began her teaching career in the fall of 1977, at Columbus Middle School, teaching industrial arts. On July 15, 1978, Sandy married Rodney Reetz at St. Anthonys Catholic Church in Highland. After substitute teaching for one year, Sandy was hired to teach industrial arts at the Richland Center High School, where she taught from 1979 until 1987. In 1987 she took a voluntary leave to raise their two children, but continued to substitute teach until 1994. At this time she was rehired as the gifted and talented coordinator for the entire Richland School District. In 2000, Sandy switched to teaching math and science at the Richland Middle School, where she taught up until the spring of 2005, when her health forced her to take a leave of absence. Sandy was a strong, determined lady with many talents, never afraid to try new things, always up for any challenge, and she never gave up until the task was complete. Sandy loved woodworking, stain glass, knitting, working in her flowerbeds, playing violin, card-making, and recently trying her hand at quilt-making. Sandy was involved in many community and church activities over the years. She was a Star Spangled Celebration volunteer, a member of the Lincoln School PTO, the Rotary soccer board, the Rockbridge land usage advisory committee, and a member of St. Marys PCCW, where she was a circle leader. Sandy also had a beautiful voice, and sang for several weddings. As busy and involved as Sandy was, most important to her was spending time with her family and friends. She never missed any of Renee or Ryans events, whether it was a soccer, basketball, or baseball game, a swim meet, any school programs, or a band or choir concert. She also, with her husband, helped chaperone two Washington D.C. choir trips. Sandy will be deeply missed by many, but never forgotten. God must have some students that need a little extra attention, and he has chosen the very best there is. Sandy is survived by her husband of 28 years, Rod; a daughter, Renee Reetz, and son, Ryan Reetz, both of Richland Center; her parents, Joe and Tootie Hasburgh of Muscoda; three brothers, Jack Hasburgh (Daphne Stanek), Ronnie Hasburgh, Bill (Terri) Hasburgh, all of Muscoda; three sisters, Deb (Tom) Marshall, Fran Hasburgh (Doug Mueller) both of Richland Center, and Patty Hasburgh of Muscoda; five nieces and nephews, Megan and Morgan Hasburgh, Alex and Andy Marshall, and Cody Clark; one sister-in-law, Roberta (Richard) Miller of Canon Falls, Minn; one brother-in-law, Ronnie Reetz of Muscoda; many cousins, other relatives, and friends. Memorials may be made to the family, where a scholarship fund will be established. The family would like to thank the nurses at UW Hospital, Sue Everson from Home Health United, and Dr. Smith for their excellent care and keeping Sandy comfortable.
