Birth23 August 1941Jerry Crook was born on 23 August 1941 at Wisconsin.
Death3 November 2009He died on 3 November 2009 at Spring Green, Sauk, Wisconsin, at age 68 Jerry Crook, age 68, of Spring Green, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was born the son of Mark & Helen (Olson) Crook. Jerry grew up in rural Iowa County where he attended grades 1-8 in a one-room schoolhouse and in good weather, he walked the two miles to and from each day. He attended high school in Spring Green and graduated in 1959. After high school, Jerry farmed his parents farm for several years, worked at Kast Rite silos and then drove a gravel truck for Watson. In 1969 he started working at Wick Homes as a carpenter until his retirement in 2003. Throughout the years he also had many side jobs. One of his favorites was roofing and siding garages in the Dodgeville and Richland Center areas with his friend Lenny Hooks. On Feb. 21, 1970, Jerry was united in marriage to Mary Weitzel in Richland Center. After their marriage they moved to Black Earth. In 1972 they moved to rural Spring Green to make their home. Jerry enjoyed watching NASCAR, rooting for the Packers and Badgers, and watching his favorite cooking show, Rachel Ray. He was a jack-of-all-trades and could fix anything. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting and, in his early years, fox trapping. He loved pulling a good joke and making people laugh. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Mary Crook of Spring Green: his six children, Sean Crook (Tyna Dull) of Arena, WI, Shane (Jolene) Crook of Dodgeville, WI, Courtney (Dan Ken, ron) Crook of Portland, OR, Jason Crook of Verona, WI, Lindsay Crook of Cross Plains, WI, and Brandon Crook of Spring Green, WI; his five grandchildren, Destiny Dull and Tezra Crook, Riley and Lucas Crook, and Darien Jensen; his two brothers, his twin brother Jim of Black Earth, WI, and John (Deloris) Crook of Lone Rock, WI; an aunt, Mildred "Tay" Bruhn; his two special friends, Bob and Ethel Williams; and many other friends, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, David. In April 2009 he was diagnosed with lung cancer, caused by smoking for more than 40 years. Despite his diagnosis, Jerry continued to enjoy his life to the fullest and was not afraid to face death. The family wishes to thank Dr. Robert Hegeman, Karen Huseby-Moore, NP and the staff at the Carbone Cancer Center, the Meriter Hospital 8th Floor General Medicine staff, Home Health United and HospiceCare for their compassionate care of Jerry during his final months of life. A celebration of his life was held at Wyoming Valley United Methodist Church. Pastor Harriet Rowland officiated.
