Kendall grew up and attended school in Tuttle graduating from Tuttle High School in 1966. He then attended Bismarck Junior College. He returned to the family farm near Tuttle, North Dakota.

Kendall enjoyed working outside and helping at the Hurdsfield Café. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Goodrich.

Kendall is survived by his mother, Eileen White of rural Tuttle, ND; brother and sister-in-law, Dallas and Deb White of Goodrich; nephew, Eric White and his special friend Brandy; niece, Samantha White; great-nephew, Kenyatta White.

He was blessed with exceptional intelligence, physical strength and stamina (despite his small stature), a cheerful disposition, and boundless energy, enthusiasm, and perseverance, which he applied fully to every task his undertook.

Virgil was a physician, scholar, researcher, teacher, soldier, mentor, adventurer, naturalist, gardener, musician, conversationalist, and world traveler. Above all, he was loving, generous, and kind. He was endlessly devoted to his family, and adored his wife of 63 years, Nadya.

After being diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease, he participated eagerly in every research study possible. Even as his mental abilities weakened, his sweet disposition remained, and he was cheerful, kind, and loving until the end.

Virgil is survived by his beloved wife, Nadya, dear sister, Grace, children and their spouses William and Yunhua, Barbara and Dennis, Pamela and Timothy, grandchildren Ivan, Misha, Nicholas, Emily, Reva an AK, nieces and nephews, great- and great-great-nieces and nephews, and cousins.

He passed with confidence that he will be reunited in heaven with his parents, dear sister Gladys, and beloved daughter, Sabrina. He will be dearly remembered.

Services: A Celebration of Life will be held at Meramec Bluffs Senior Community, 1 Meramec Bluffs Dr., Ballwin, MO on Saturday, March 5 at 9:30 a.m. Burial service with military honors will be at Highland, IL City Cemetery on Monday, March 7 at 10:30 a.m.

Laurene was born at home in Grantfork, IL. She graduated Highland High School in 1945. She worked as a secretary at CJ Hug Company. After her marriage, she and her husband, John, moved to Elmhurst, IL while John attended Elmhurst College. After his graduation they moved to Webster Grove, MO while John attended Eden Seminary. While there she worked as a secretary at Webster Grove Schools and as a Teachers Aid. After her husband graduated, they served many churches in Iowa, Chicago, Mascoutah, and North Aurora. Laurene kept busy raising their 5 children. She was active in the churches they served, being part of the Women’s Guild at those churches. In 1970 she earned a Teaching Certificate from Belleville Junior College and she worked as a Substitute Teacher. She and her husband were involved with United Marriage Encounter and traveled extensively attending meetings and interacting with couples for marriage counseling. After retirement from ministry, they moved to rural Carlyle, IL and entertained their children and families for 13 years. Then they moved to Highland and enjoyed being with their ancestral families and friends. One of Laurene’s past times was quilting and knitting.

Mr. Hinzman was born Nov. 13, 1901, in Avon, S.D., the son of Fred and Emma (Peters) Hinzman. He attended school at Avon. On June 16, 1934, he married Marie Morehead at Elk Point, S.D. The couple lived in Omaha for many years. He had been a salesman and had worked in the shipping department of an auto parts store. They retired in 1976 and moved to LeMars. Mrs. Hinzman died July 1, 1987.

Survivors include a brother-in-law, Lloyd Morehead of Akron; a sister-in-law, Winnie Morehead of LeMars, and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Kathrine Connors.
