BirthApril 1763James Lemmon was born in April 1763 at Hagerstown, Washington, Maryland.
He was the son of Captain Robert S. Lemmon and Eleanor Jane Davis.
Marriagebefore 1833James Lemmon married Amy Rawlins before 1833.
Death4 July 1858James Lemmon died on 4 July 1858 at Dallas, Texas, at age 95 James Lemmon, son of Robert Lemmon, was born near Hagerstown, Maryland. He served as a messenger boy during the American Revolution when a lad of only twelve years, it being safer for boys to carry messages than men. He carried messages from the camp of George Washington to that of Captain Robert Lemmon (his father) and others. He lived in Washington's camp in Valley Forge and affectionately called him "Uncle George." Towards the end of the war, James entered the Continental Army as a private and served until the end of the War.
In 1800 James Lemmon married Sarah Carr and lived in Bowling Green, Ky. until her death in 1815. He moved his family to Indiana where later he married Amy Rawlins. About 1834 they were lured by free land into Illinois where they settled in Green County -- living neighbors to Roderick Rawlins. In 1844 Roderick Rawlins moved his entire family from Illinois to Texas, and settled in Peter's Colony on a land-grant located partly on Ten Mile Creek in what is known as the southern part of Dallas County. Needing some help in getting his large family to Texas, Roderick Rawlins brought along young Robert Allen Lemmon (son of James Lemmon) and also Carlos Wise, neighbors, and also friends of his own son "Alex." These two boys were so delighted with Texas that they selected 640 acre tracts of land lying next to the Rawlins grant and walked back to Illinois to bring their parents.
Robert Allen Lemmon returned with his father, James Lemmon, his mother, Amy Rawlins Lemmon and his younger brother Jackson Lemmon in August, 1845.
JAMES LEMMON, a citizen of the Republic of Texas, died on July 4, 1858, at his home three miles below Lancaster on the Dallas-Ellis County line. He was buried 90 years ago in Edgewood Cemetery, Lancaster, Texas, near the spot where the Rawlins caravan camped the night it arrived in Peter's Colony in 1844.
James Lemmon is one of the few soldiers of the American Revolution buried in Texas, and the only one buried in Dallas County.

He was the son of Milton Oliver Guynn and Mahala Potts.
Death25 October 1864Samuel Perry Guynn died on 25 October 1864 at Linn, Kansas, at age 27 Samuel Perry Guynn was born on 17 May, 1837, in Hendricks Co., Indiana, the son of Milton Oliver Guynn and Mahala Potts. Samuel joined the Sixth Regiment Kansas Volunteer Cavalry on September 2, 1861 and assigned to Company E. Samuel was part of the Sixth Regiment that was at Fort Scott during General Sterling Price's raid on Missouri. These men of the Sixth Cavalry joined other units and met the Confederate forces in the Battle of Mine Creek in one of the largest Cavalry engagements of the war. Samuel was killed in action during the battle on October 25, 1864. In the 1859 Kansas State Census, Samuel was living in Mound City Twp. The Battle of Mine Creek took place about 5 miles east of Mound City. After soldiering around Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas for 3 years, he was killed near his home and family. Because the Sixth Regiment did not operate as a discreet unit during the battle, their contribution and Samuel's full measure of devotion is largely overlooked.

PLEASANTON, LINN COUNTY, KANSAS, THURSDAY, JULY 15, 1915

Ed. Enterprise, Pleasanton, Ks.
Dear Sir; --Thought I would write a few lines to tell you of the death of Mrs. Wm. K Everett, who departed this life July 1st, 1915. I thought this the best way to notify all her friends there, for she was well known in Pleasanton, Kansas, and a member of the Christian church at that place. Naomi Guynn was born in Hendricks county, Indiana on July 3rd, 1839. Was united in marriage to Wm. K. Everett in Appanoose county, Iowa, March 31st, 1857. Eight children were born to this union, six having proceeded her to the better land, and two surviving. "Aunt Sis," as she was familiarly called, was loved by eveyone who knew her; was a Christian and lived according to the will of God, always working for the betterment of humanity. She was 76 years on the day of her burial at Walla Walla, July 3rd. Two children are left to mourn her loss, Mrs. Ida Meriman of Freewater, Oregon, and Walter U. Everett, of Slater, Wash; also two sisters, Mrs. Perry Shaffer, of Pleasanton, Kans., and Mrs. Sarah Ellis, of Columbus, Kans. and a brother, T. E. Nation, of Mound City, Kans.
The bereaved ones have the sympathy of the whole community in the loss of a kind and loving mother, but their loss is her gain--her long suffering is ended in a world where sickness nor sorrow never enter, and is reaping her reward, for Jesus said" He that cometh unto me I will in no wise cast out."
A FRIEND.

Death5 April 1895Margaret Jane Guynn died on 5 April 1895 at Linn, Kansas, at age 45 Margaret J. Jobe

Again the dark angel of death has invaded our city and taken from our midst one of Pleasanton's best women. Mrs. Margaret Jane Jobe, whose life became extinct on last Friday night at 12:30 o'clock and passed quietly to the other shore. Pnuemonia and bronchitis was the cause of her death.

Margaret Jane Guinn was born near Bloomfield, Iowa, Oct. 19, 1849. She moved with her parents, Milton and Jane Guinn, to Indiana where she lived until 1856, when she came to Linn County Kansas. She was married to William Jobe July 16th 1868. After their marriage they lived at Trading Post, Kans., 16 years, when they moved to California; in 1878 they returned to Trading Post, living there until moving to Pleasanton in 1882 at which place she resided until her death.

Eight children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Jobe, of which three are dead--Isabelle, Dollie and Ernest. The five living children are Mrs. William Snyder, Miss Cora Jobe, James, Walter and Jesse Jobe. Mrs. Jobe was a quiet lady always attended strickly to her home duties and her deepest interest was manifested in her children and home. She was a model woman, member of the M. E. Church at this place and in her demise the community suffers a deep loss and truly sympathizes with her husband who loses a life partner and a noble wife; also with the five children who lose their dearest friend on earth, mother.

Funeral services were held Sunday morning at the M. E. Church in Pleasanton, conducted by Rev. J. M. Payne, of the Grace M. E. Church of Fort Scott, Kans. Interment in the Linnville Cemetery.
