Death29 June 1907Patrick McGarty died on 29 June 1907 at Wisconsin at age 64 Patrick McGarty died at his home in Brooklyn, Saturday afternoon, June 29th after an illness of over two months during which time he had been a great suffer with liver trouble and yellow jaunders, tho he was in his right mind and knew everyone up to the last minute. The deceased was born in Dremkirk county, Latrem, Ireland in the year 1843, and at the age of 20 years came to this country settling at Providence, R.I. where two sisters and a brother were living. Three years later the rest of the family came to the same place. Thirty-six years ago he with his brother Mathew started west, Mathew stopping at Janesville while he came on to Elroy and thrity-two years ago he married Miss Mary Corrigan at Union Center, who now servies him. Four children were born to this union, Mrs. William Sheridan, John, James and Mrs. Charlie Pieck. James died when only two months old at Bridge Water, S.D. where the family lived for two years, from there they went to Sioux Falls, S.D. and after two years residence there came back to Elroy where they have lived in the part of the city known as Brooklyn for twenty-two years. There were four brothers and three sisters in his family all of whom have preceded him to the other land, except a sister Mrs. Maria Noon, living at Providence, R.I. The funeral was held from St. Patricks Catholic church Monday forenoon, Rev. Fr. J. S. Campbell, officiating. Those from out of the city to attend the funeral were James McGarty, Mrs. John McGarty, Patrick McGarty, Matt McGarty of Mauston and Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Pieck of North Freedom.

Jennifer was a 1969 graduate of Middleton High School and earned her nursing degree from Sacred Heart School of Nursing in Milwaukee. She was employed with various area nursing homes as a geriatric nurse and also served as director of nurses with Oakwood before working with in-home independent health care. She was united in marriage to Gary Scott on Dec. 19, 1987, in Madison. Jennifer was an accomplished horseback rider and enjoyed caring for animals. She was a creative and talented artist, an avid reader, and loved to garden. Jennifer was known by all as "Mom" and treasured most the time spent with her family. In addition to her husband, Gary, she is survived by three children, Benjamin (Sara), Jerid (Sheryl) and their son, Austin Michael, and Courtney; her parents, Lloyd and Janet Mattix; two brothers, Tim (Mary) Mattix and Robert Mattix; a sister, Susan Mattix; other relatives; and many friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave., Middleton, at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 30, 2008, with Monsignor Douglas Dushack presiding. Burial will be at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Loreto, at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Family and friends may call from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2008, at the GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL HOME, 7435 University Ave., Middleton . Friends may also call on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
