Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Oyate Oyanke Center in Santee, Neb. Interment will follow in Congregational Cemetery at Santee. Visitation was held Saturday and will continue until 2 p.m. today at the Four Directions Center in Sioux City. Visitation will resume 4 p.m. today and continue until service time Monday at Oyate Oyanke Center in Santee. Sioux City arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service, and arrangements in Santee are under the direction of the Santee Nation Wake and Burial Association.

Charles was born Feb. 13, 1935, in Santee, the son of Harry and Florence (Lovejoy) Rockwood. He came to Sioux City in 1951, and served as a member of the U.S. Army beginning in 1954. Following his discharge, he worked for Stanger Brothers Hyde Company as well as a roofer for Guarantee Roofing and Siding Company and National Roofing. Charles also worked as a window washer and carpet layer.

Charles was known as a backyard mechanic, who enjoyed working on any type of vehicle. He loved to socialize with his friends and family. He also loved to tell stories and spend quality time with his grandchildren.

Charles will be missed by his family, which includes his wife, Rose of Sioux City; his four wonderful daughters, Rosina Campbell-Schneiders (Jon) of Sioux City, Susan Rockwood of Sioux City, Florence Rockwood of Sioux City, and Myrna Rockwood-Hendershot (Larry) of Seneca, S.C. He is also survived by his three sisters, Elizabeth White, Dorothy Thomas, both of Sioux City, and Aggie Miller of Delton, Ga. He is also survived by his 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard; sister, Elizabeth; and grandson, Luke Schneiders.
