He led by example when he taught us all the meaning of honoring your parents as he helped to care for his Mother and Father-in-law in their last year. He was admired more than he knew for his undeniable commitment to faith and family. LeRoy was an avid bowler for many years and even scored a perfect 300. In their spare time he and Mary were surrounded by loved ones as their door was always open to family and friends. He loved playing cards, games and watching golf and tennis with his visitors. Kathryn, daughter of Elizabeth (McLain) and Henry Langkamp, was born on June 12, 1936. She grew up on the family farm surrounded by her brothers and sisters. On September 25, 1954, Kathryn married the love of her life, George H Powell. Together they built a wonderful life, with their 3 children residing in Dickeyville. George and Kathryn had the type of marriage and love that most people dream of. They had their ups and downs, but no two people were more perfect for each other. The phrase “opposites attract” definitely applied to them. George was a free spirit while Kathryn was more take charge, but with those two, you knew you were in the presence of the real thing. Kathryn was a hard worker and wanted to give her family all that she could. There was nothing Kathryn loved more than her family and especially playing with her great-grandchildren. Her chocolate chip cookies were famous and you could never eat just one. Those that knew Kathryn, knew her love of cards. She would be the first person to call you out if you played the wrong card in euchre, and she wouldn’t let you forget it. Kathryn resided in Dickeyville until 2015 where she then moved to the Pioneer Ridge Apartments in Platteville. There, she made many wonderful friends who supported her and helped her throughout the years.

Kathryn is survived by her children, Steve (Lisa) Powell of Sauk City, WI, Penny (Jerry Richardson) Powell of Galena, IL, and Tyrone (Vicki) Powell of Poynette, WI; her sisters, Rose Marie (John) Reuter Jr. and Mary Ann Riesselman; her sister-in-law, Kathy Langkamp; and her grandchildren, Becky (Darron) Fritz, Jami (Dallion) Pluemer, Lucas (Aleia) Powell, and Rachel (Nathan) DeMaster. Kathryn was blessed with many great-grandchildren, Cora, Hunter, Garrison, Keira, Valeria, Alisa, and Ryker.
