They lived on a farm south of Beresford throughout their married life, where he was a dairy farmer. His church and family were very important to him. He was a member of Dalesburg Lutheran Church where he sang in the choir, served on the church council and was an usher. He was a member of the Farmers Union and served on the Cleveland rural school board. He is survived by his wife Ardis of Beresford; daughter Darla (Eugene) Bult of Sioux Falls; two granddaughters: Andrea (Scott) Sukut and Megan Bult and great granddaughter Sophia Sukut, all of Sioux Falls; two sisters: Ona Abraham and Maxine Ellingson both of Alcester; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter Marcene Johnson in 2006, his parents, 2 brothers, Milton and Eldon, 4 sisters Marcella Lapour, Ethel Hakl, Myrtle Solberg and Evelyn Ekren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, June 5 at Dalesburg Lutheran Church, rural Beresford. Visitation will be Thursday from 2PM to 8PM with family present from 6PM to 8PM at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford.

After high school she moved to Sioux Falls and worked as a sales clerk at J.J. Newberry until her marriage to Conrad Johnson on June 21, 1951 in Centerville, SD. Ardis and her husband farmed south of Beresford on the same farm for almost 58 years until her husband, Conrads death on June 2, 2009. She then moved to Beresford, SD.

Ardis was a member of Dalesburg Lutheran Church, active in the WELCA organization, served as a teacher in Sunday School and Bible School, sang in the choir, and served on the Altar committee. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, sewing, reading, and doing crossword puzzles. She also volunteered at the Civic Center store for several years. Her church, family, and friends were very important to her.

She is survived by her daughter Darla (Eugene) Bult of Sioux Falls; two granddaughters Andrea (Scott) Sukut of Sioux Falls and Megan Bult of Tea and great-grandchildren Sophia, Olivia, Hunter Sukut of Sioux Falls and Carter Bult of Tea; sister Carol Brende; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Conrad, daughter Marcene, her parents, two brothers, James and Obed Osthus, two sisters, Maurine Miller and Hazel Christopherson.

She grew up on a farm south of Beresford attending Cleveland rural school and graduated from Beresford High School in 1972. Marcene attended Nettleton College in Sioux Falls for one year and went to work for Mid-States, Inc. in Sioux Falls where she was employed for 32 years. She was a life long member of Dalesburg Lutheran Church where she had taught Sunday school and served on the altar committee. Marcene was also a member of the Dalesburg Scandinavian Association. Her faith, family and friends were the most important to her. She enjoyed reading, visiting, family gatherings, reunions and researching family history. Marcene is survived by her parents; one sister, Darla (Eugene) Bult of Sioux Falls; two nieces, Andrea (Scott) Sukut and Megan Bult all of Sioux Falls and many relatives and friends.
