She was born on August 12, 1921 in Reedsburg, WI the daughter of Emil and Genevieve (Carney) Ziech. She was a 1939 graduate of Reedsburg High School after which she went to work at the Woolin Mill. From there she went to work as the office manager at a doctor’s clinic and then at a gas and electric company. In 1963 she joined the staff of Bethany Home in Waupaca and became the Business Manager of Berlin Memorial Hospital in 1967. In 1972, Helen passed her license exam and became the licensed Administrator of the Berlin Memorial Nursing Home, which had been part of the Berlin Memorial Hospital until its expansion. Helen retired on January 3, 1986 after 19 years of service, moving back to Reedsburg spending the remaining years of her life serving her church and community. Helen loved doing anything that involved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherwoman. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Bud Ziech, dear friend, Pearl Neibuhr, Nieces and nephews, Nina (Melvin) Muchow, Dwight ‘Fritz’ (Judi) Cottington and a great nephew, Scott Muchow. Helen’s family extends their sincere appreciation to the staff of the Reedsburg Senior Life Center for the excellent and loving care she received while a resident at both the assisted living and nursing home. She is survived by her sister, Ruth Cowan of Reedsburg Nephews, Gerald (Shirley) Cowan of Hayward Richard Cowan of Baraboo Great nieces and nephews: Stephen (Debbie) Muchow of Reedsburg Stanley (Kay) Muchow of Madison Patrick (Margareta) Cottington of New York Sue (Paul) Zingsheim of Reedsburg Sandy (Steve) Peterson of Reedsburg Many great great and great great great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. in St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Reedsburg with Pastor David Glesne officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Burial will take place in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Reedsburg. The Farber Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Joe Ann and Jerry loved their family, Tina and Christopher, their spouses Ben Cone and Elizabeth Meurer, and their sweet grandson, Brody. They loved and found joy in caring for their pets Timber and Tina. They lived a full life, and were genuinely happy people, as was demonstrated by Joe Ann's robust laugh. Joe Ann touched many lives through her work at the Sauk Co. Health Care Center. In her free time she loved busying her hands with needlework. It was a rare occasion to find her without a piece in her hands, her fingers crafting perfect stitches. Jerry enjoyed his work at HoChunk, speaking of it often. At home he loved connecting on-line with people across the globe, and often spoke of his conversations with folks from across the globe. They were both preceded in death by their parents. They are survived by their children: Justina (Ben) Cone of Madison Christopher (Elizabeth) Meurer of Baraboo Grandson: Brody Jerry's Sister: Diane Smith of Lodi Joe Ann's Sisters: Della (Robert) Eberle of Plain Mary (Mike) Hanko of Lodi Elizabeth (Greg) Graf of Poynette Barbara (Kevin) Taylor of Dane Many nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends. He served three years in the U.S. Army Air Corp. After the service he owned and operated a dairy farm in Kendallville until 1982. He served on the Orange Township Advisory Board for eight years. He was a member of Trinity Church United Methodist in Kendallville, American Legion Post 381 in Rome City, Purdue Alumni Association, and the John Purdue Club.

He was an avid fan of Purdue sports. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren's games in high school and college.

He was born October 14, 1920, in Kendallville to Orlo and Lucile (Fairbanks) Imes. On January 23, 1943, he married Frieda Harlow in Lafayette.

Surviving are his wife, Frieda Imes of Kendallville; a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy & Keven Crawford of Winamac, Indiana; a son and daughter-in-law, Tom & Maryanne Imes of Madison, Indiana; two grandsons, Kyle Crawford of Chicago, Illinois, and Clay & Shannon Crawford of Indianapolis; and a granddaughter, Kara Crawford at Grand Valley State Univesity in Michigan.

Funeral services will be Monday, December 31, 2007, at 10 am at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville, with Rev. G. Scott Pattison of Trinity Church United Methodist officiating. Burial will be in Orange Cemetery, Rome City. Casketbearers will be Rick Pratt, Randy Marker, Tom Imes, Keven Crawford, Clay Crawford, and Kyle Crawford. Military graveside services will be by American Legion Post 381 in Rome City.

Visitation will be Sunday, December 30, 2007, from 4-7 pm at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to Provena Sacred Heart Home, Avilla.
