Lynn was born on May 27, 1944 to Joseph and Marion (Jacobsen) Mader in Santa Clarita, California. He married Julie Gullekson on March 7th, 2000, at Gretna Green, Scotland.

Lynn was a highly regarded electronics engineer and entrepreneur, both in his family’s business Audio Systems, and later in his own company, Dakota Audio. His innovative, focused-sound speakers are installed in museums including the Country Music Hall of Fame, the National Constitution Center, Sony Wonder, Stax Museum of American Soul Music, Newseum, many of the Smithsonian museums and several presidential libraries including the Boris Yeltsin library in Russia. In addition, Lynn designed and supervised the installation of sound systems for parliaments in Yemen, Albania, Lebanon, Nicaragua, and Jordan.

Lynn and Julie’s life together was enriched by caring for their oldest grandchild, Ashton, 16, who now resides at the Anne Carlsen Center in Jamestown, North Dakota.

Lynn is survived by his wife, Julie; his brothers, Dale (Kathy) Mader, Lyle (Sharon) Mader and Bruce (Tammy) Mader; sons, Greg (Ronda) Mader and Eric (Mari) Lee-Mader; step-children, Michael (Amanda) Simenson and Carrie (Justin) Frieson; and grandchildren, Ashton Simenson, Wyatt Hoffer, Lorelei Mader, Sabina Mader, Grant Simenson, Annaliese Simenson, Aki Lee-Mader and Ren Lee-Mader; and many nieces and nephews.

Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Marion Mader.

Death31 December 2010Marie C. Henkenius died on 31 December 2010 at age 85 Marie Catherine Bechen was born February 9, 1925, the eldest daughter of Fred and Angela Henkenius. She died on Friday, December 31, 2010, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, at the age of eighty-five.
Marie was born in Vail, Iowa, attended St. Ann's grade school and graduated from St. Ann's High School in 1943 and from St. Anthony's School of Nursing in 1946. She attended Marquette University in 1948 taking post-graduate work in surgery. Upon completion of her training she was employed at St. Anthony's Hospital in Carroll, Iowa.

On June 15, 1950, Marie and Raymond Bechen of Vail were united in marriage. To this union six sons and three daughters were born. They are Janet, Mary, Joseph, Philip, Thomas, Gene, James, Angela and Chris.

In 1956 Ray and Marie purchased a farm eight miles south of Denison. Their nine children were raised there and attended St. Rose of Lima Parochial School and all graduated from the Denison High School. They were members of the St. Rose of Lima Parish. Marie worked as a nurse at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital for many years. In 1979 she took employment at the Denison Job Corps as an instructor in the Health Occupation Department. In 1993 Ray and Marie retired and moved to Vail where they became members of St. Ann's Parish.

Marie enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, cooking and gardening. She made many afghans which she donated to organizations to be used as fund raisers. She was a Godly woman and followed her faith with love and joy.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Ray, a son Chris, her parents Fred and Angela Henkenius, a sister Leah and three brothers Glen, Matt and Charlie. Survivors include children Janet and her husband, Kevin; Mary; Joseph; Philip and his wife, Nancy; Thomas; Gene and his wife, Judy; James; and Angela; brother Edward and his wife, Mary Ann; sisters-in-law Kay; Mary; and Deloresann. Survivors also include her five grandchildren, one great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, January 3, 2011, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Vail, Iowa. Fr. Timothy Friedrichsen served as Celebrant of the Mass with interment at the St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery. Organist Irene Feilmeier provided the organ accompaniment for the St. Ann's Family Choir. Kevin Byshinski served as lector, Ryan and Rachel Gangestad served as altar servers. St. Anthony Nurses Alumni Association served as Honor Guard. Those serving as pallbearers Joe Henkenius, Dan Gangestad, Jeff Bechen, Ian Byschinski, Bill Hrabik, Bob Niehaus, Mike Fink and Dan Crane. Sunday services included a Legion of Mary Rosary at 4:30 P.M., and a Vigil Service at 5 P.M. The family invited everyone in attendance to join them in fellowship and lunch at the Vail Community Building served by St. Ann's Parish Teams. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.
