The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of satin and nylon tulle. The snug bodice and long pointed sleeves were of satin. The yoke of tulle accented across the portrait neckline and down the center front with pearls and tulle flowers. The boufant skirt of tulle over stain extend into a cathedral length train scatters with bows and pearls. A princess crown, decorated with pearls, held her bridal veil of silk illusion. Her bouquet was of red roses and mums. As maid of honor the bride's sister, Marlene Bauer, wore a strapless gown of emerald green velvet and net with a velvet jacket and a matching headpiece of velvet and veiling. She carried red roses and snapdragons and mums, and wore pearl earrings and pearl scatter pins, gifts from the bride. Death21 January 2008Luella Lucy Bauer died on 21 January 2008 at age 74 Luella L. Haas, age 74, of Plain, passed away Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, at the UW Hospital following a brief illness. She was born on Sept. 20, 1933, in Spring Green, the daughter of Joseph and Marian (Laubmeier) Bauer. Luella was raised on a farm and at an early age started working as live-in help for several families. Luella was married on Dec. 29, 1953, to LaVerne "Butch" Haas. In her next years, she kept busy raising eight children. Luella loved to camp and fish. She also loved to stay busy. She had several jobs in the areas of cooking and cleaning. She traveled extensively with Butch, visiting Europe three times, Alaska, Australia, Figi, New Zealand, Hawaii, Panama and numerous places in the United States. She enjoyed teaching people how to knit and crochet, especially to her two granddaughters. Her sense of humor and strength will live on. She was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church and the Plain American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include LaVerne "Butch" Haas of Plain; eight children, Mary Lou Haas of Madison, Gary Haas of Milwaukee, Michael (Carol) Haas of Gallipolis, Ohio, Robert Haas and Laurie of Plain, Dennis Haas of Racine, Theresa Haas of Boston, Julie Haas and Kent of Spring Green, David Haas and Wendy Thompson of Madison; two granddaughters, Montana Prather and Mikayla Haas; a step-grandson, Eli Boonefarmer; a step-granddaughter, Misha (Randy) McKinney; a step-great-grandson, Joshua Boonefarmer; six sisters, Donna Gruber, Marlene Gruber, Evelyn (Gerald) Watson, Betty (Harlan) Meister, Delores (Eugene) Neuheisel and Gerri (William) Bergman; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Marian Bauer; and two sisters, Mary and Josephine Bauer. There will be a Mass in Memory of Luella held at ST. LUKE'S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Plain on Friday, Jan. 25, 2008, at 11 a.m. Father Mike Resop will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home in Spring Green, and on Friday at ST. The boufant skirt of tulle over stain extend into a cathedral length train scatters with bows and pearls. A princess crown, decorated with pearls, held her bridal veil of silk illusion. Her bouquet was of red roses and mums. As maid of honor the bride's sister, Marlene Bauer, wore a strapless gown of emerald green velvet and net with a velvet jacket and a matching headpiece of velvet and veiling. She carried red roses and snapdragons and mums, and wore pearl earrings and pearl scatter pins, gifts from the bride. Butch was born on June 23, 1927, the son of Ludwig and Esther (Ruhland) Haas in rural Loganville and was raised on the family farm. Butch worked in a cheese factory before serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was married on Dec. 29, 1953, to the former Luella Bauer and worked for Ed Kraemer and Sons for many years. In his retirement, Butch traveled extensively with Luella going to Europe three times, Alaska, Australia, Figi, New Zealand, Hawaii, Panama and numerous places in the United States. Butch loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, playing cards and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church in Plain, the Plain American Legion Post No. 398, Knights of Columbus and the 40 ET 8.
