Visitation will continue on Monday one hour prior to services. Wintz Funeral Home of Hartington is in charge of arrangements.

    Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Mike Loecker, Brad Loecker, Terry Mackeprang, Lonnie Mackeprang, Mark Mackeprang, Chad Stevens, Brian Stevens, and Tim Kruse.

    Honorary pallbearers will be the granddaughters, Cheryl Sommer, Cindy Huether, Lori Carter, Staci Hayworth, Sr. Lee Ann Mackeprang, Kristi Steffen, Tanya Hacecky, Laurie Heine, and Kari Hochstein.

    Leona Elizabeth Kruse was born on the family farm on December 1, 1912 in Menominee, Nebraska to Paul and Ida (Kleinschmidt) Albrecht. She attended school in Menominee until the 10th grade. After her schooling, Leona stayed and helped on the farm until she was 20 years old. She then worked for a couple families taking care of their homes and children prior to her marriage. Leona married Raymond Kruse on April 3, 1940 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Menominee. Leona helped Ray on the farm north of Hartington while raising their five children.

    Leona was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and Holy Family (Sts. Peter & Paul) in Bow Valley. She was a member of the Christian Mothers, Bow Valley Card Club where she played Sheep Head and Rummy. She loved to dance, enjoyed taking trips to visit relatives and attending her children's activities. Leona did enjoy gardening and canning peaches and pears. Making pies was also one of her specialties.

    Leona is survived by her five children and their spouses, Marilyn and Vern Loecker of Yankton, SD; Mardell and Robert Mackeprang of Crofton; Melvin and Jane Kruse of Hartington; Carol Ann and Bill Stevens of Fordyce; Kevin Kruse of Hartington; 17 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Loretta Wewell of Columbus, NE; Ida Wewell of Stuart, NE.

    Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Ray, 3 sisters, Gertrude, Crescentia, and Hilda; 2 brothers, Peter and Leonard Albrecht; one grandson, Patrick Kruse.

    Visitations will be 3-9 p.m. Monday, July 19, at Kostel Funeral Home, Yankton, with a rosary and Scripture service at 7:00 p.m. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.

    Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Brett and Brian Ballard, Brooks Shutt, Travis and Jason Loecker and Neil Jones.

    Hildegard was born on July 19, 1915, in Menominee, NE, to Paul and Ida (Kleinschmit) Albrecht. She married Ignatius Loecker in October 1940 at Menominee, NE. Later in life, Hildegard remarried to Harvey Obermire in September 1979 at Holbrook, AZ. In her early years, she was a teacher in rural Nebraska schools. After having taught, she worked at the Black Steer Restaurant for 20 years as a waitress. She lived in the Menominee area all her life.

    She will be remembered for her membership in the Menominee Ladies Guild, Christian Mothers and Legion of Mary. Hildegard loved gardening, flowers, birds and most of all loved to be with her family. She enjoyed her many friends at Avera Sacred Heart Adult Day Services and generated a kindness and gentleness to all who knew her. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her.

    Hildegard's memory will be cherished by her son, Harold (Jan) Loecker, Bloomfield, NE; daughters: Denelda Shutt, Yankton; LuAnn (Duane) Jones, Menominee, NE; 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; sisters: Loretta Wewel, Columbus, NE; Leona Kruse, Hartington, NE; and Ida Wewel, Stuart, NE.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Ida (Kleinschmit) Albrecht, and two husbands, Ignatius Loecker and Harvey Obermire.

    The family requests that memorials be directed to Sacred Heart Adult Day Services, 1000 W. 4th St., Yankton, SD 57078.
