Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family (Sts. Peter and Paul) Catholic Church in Bow Valley, with the Rev. Eric Olson officiating. Burial will be in the Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Bow Valley. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a vigil service at 7 p.m., at the church. Visitation will resume one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. On May 2, 1934, Lajoy was born on a farm two miles south of Bow Valley to Herman and Johanna (Fuchs) Sudbeck. He grew up on a farm two miles south of Bow Valley and attended Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School until the eighth grade. His buddies from Bow Valley and Dimmock, S.D. nicknamed him "Tiny" one day at the Bow Valley station. From 1957 to 1958, Tiny worked in Omaha for the Peter Kiewit and Rorick Construction Company. He returned to the farm in 1958 and farmed there the rest of his life.

He married Elisabeth "Elly" Drager on Oct. 26, 1959, in Bow Valley. He enjoyed farming and raising livestock. He and Elly loved to go ballroom dancing.

Tiny was a lifelong member of the Holy Family (Sts. Peter and Paul) Catholic Church in Bow Valley and had served on the parish council. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, Holy Name Society, Moose Lodge in Yankton and was a member of the Bow Valley Park Association. He was well known for his burgers and goony burger. In his younger days, he played baseball for Bow Valley. He had a passion for golf, scoring two holes in one. He especially enjoyed the time on the golf course with his golfing buddies. He belonged to the Hartington Country Club and the Hartington and Coleridge golf leagues.

Tiny is survived by his wife of 50 years, Elly of Bow Valley; three daughters and their children, Maria Wheeler, Jordan, Megan and Whitney of Sioux Falls, S.D., Joan Lammers, Heather (Elkhorn, Neb.), Dustin and Nicholas of Hartington, Carla Augustine, her husband Jim, Makayla, Miranda and Mariah of Sioux City; one brother, Vernon Sudbeck of Hartington.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister-in-law, Bonnie Sudbeck.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren Jordan, Megan and Whitney Wheeler, Heather, Dustin and Nicholas Lammers, Makayla, Miranda and Mariah Augustine. Honorary pallbearers will be Sylvan and Lorraine Brummer, Daryl and Aggie Hochstein, Roman and Helen Marx, David and Lori Opfer, Ronald and Norma Sudbeck, Gary and Doris Hochstein, Ruth Heine, Mitch and Mary Miller, Clifford and Betty Gubbels.
