His wife, the former Glendola Darnell McNutt, whom he married July 5, 1945, in Rockland, Maine, died Feb. 12, 2004. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served as a U.S. Coast Guard Sonar Operator during World War II. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, past commander of Star Post 295, Grant Park, Kankakee County, 18th District and Jr. Vice Commander of Department of Illinois American Legion, and a member of the Advisory Council of Illinois Veterans Homes, representing the American Legion. He was also a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Grant Park. He was a charter member of the Grant Park Lions Club, a life member of the Kankakee Masonic Lodge and a member of the Danville Consistory 32nd Degree.

    Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Valgene and Kim Raloff of Grant Park; one daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Darrell Krenek of Lubbock, Texas; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by two brothers.
  • He was buried after 30 January 2010 at Heusing Cemetery, Kankakee, Illinois.
