She was born on December 6, 1933, the daughter of Gerhardt and Dolly (Cadwell) Kirschbaum of Cassville. Florence graduated from Cassville High School in 1951. She was united in marriage to Gerald F. Schildgen on November 21, 1953, and together they owned and operated the Schildgen family farm. In 1983, they moved to Lancaster. She was a devoted member of St. Clement Catholic Church. Florence enjoyed fishing the mighty Mississippi River, gardening, and playing cards with family and friends. She took great pride in all of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald; children: Dan (Kim) Schildgen; Elaine (Larry) Mumm; Gary (Sandy) Schildgen; beloved grandchildren: Eric, Greg, and Paul (Michelle) Schildgen, Rachel (Jesse), Steve (Katie), Andy (Nikki), and Dan Mumm, David, Brad (Whitney Moore), and Jacob Schildgen; two great-grandchildren: Blake and Madeline; a brother, Ray (Joanne) Kirschbaum; a sister, Lois Vorwald; sisters-in-law: Bae Ruth and Marcia Kirschbaum, Sally (Joseph) Langkamp, and Marie (Robert) Olson.

In addition to her parents, Florence was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol, a granddaughter, Stephanie, her siblings: Lavern, Carol, Walter (Donna), and Norman Kirschbaum, Dorothy (Donald) Fredrick; brothers-in-law: Virgil Vorwald, Joseph (Drucilla) Schildgen, Elmer Fenzau and Larry Drew.

Funeral services were held on Monday, January 5, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father John Sasse officiating. Burial was in St. Clement Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Sunday, January 4, 2015, from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster where a 12:45 p.m. parish rosary was held. Friends also called on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Florence M. Schildgen Memorial Fund has been established. Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services is serving the family.

He was born on July 5, 1937, in Cassville, the son of Gerhardt and Dolly (Cadwell) Kirschbaum. Ray graduated from Cassville High School in 1955. He married the love of his life, Joanne M. Reifsteck on September 14, 1957, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville. Together, they began farming on the Kirschbaum family farm. Ray later worked for his brother, Walter, at the Cassville Cheese Factory. In 1959, he began his career at John Deere Dubuque Tractor Works, where he proudly worked for 30 years. Ray was an avid outdoorsman, who was passionate about hunting, fishing, golfing, and camping on the Mississippi River. Ray took pride in his woodworking, with his specialty being bean bag boards. He was also a huge fan of the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers, and Los Angeles Dodgers. Ray was a member of the Cassville Fire Department, St. Charles Catholic Church and its Knights of Columbus, and the Catholic Knights. Above everything else, Ray cherished his family.
Surviving is his loving wife of 62 years, Joanne; children: Julie (Gary Wiest) Dean, Michael (Jolene Hansen) Kirschbaum, Joyce (Jeff) Patzner, Janet (John) Bingham; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; his sister, Lois Vorwald; sisters-in-law: Bae Ruth and Marcia Kirschbaum; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Bridget Kirschbaum; his brothers: Laverne, Walter (Donna Mae), and Norman; his sisters: Carol Kirschbaum, Dorothy (Don) Frederick, Florence (Gerald) Schildgen; and a brother-in-law, Virgil Vorwald.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 29, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville with Fr. John Meinholz officiating. Burial will be in the St. Charles Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Friday, February 28, 2020, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Raymond H. "Ray" Kirschbaum Memorial Fund has been established. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Cassville is entrusted with his care.

He was a lifelong member of Roseni Lutheran Church and was active in many church and community organizations.Arnold is survived by his wife, Twila; son, Allen of Alcester; daughters, Carol (Paul) Reynen of Sioux Falls, Anita (Glenn) Nelson of Meckling, Denise (Lou) Gertsman of Beresford, Sharon (Dan) Rykhus of Sioux Falls and Lois (Todd) Tunell of Highlands Ranch, CO. He has 15 grandchildren, Sam Anderson; Beth and Mikayla Sveeggen; Nate (Jill), John (Molly) and Drew Reynen; Mary, Nicki and Anthony Nelson; Cody and Justin Nielsen; Austin, David and Ryan Rykhus and Tyler Tunell. He is survived by his wife Ardis of Beresford; daughter Darla (Eugene) Bult of Sioux Falls; two granddaughters: Andrea (Scott) Sukut and Megan Bult and great granddaughter Sophia Sukut, all of Sioux Falls; two sisters: Ona Abraham and Maxine Ellingson both of Alcester; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter Marcene Johnson in 2006, his parents, 2 brothers, Milton and Eldon, 4 sisters Marcella Lapour, Ethel Hakl, Myrtle Solberg and Evelyn Ekren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, June 5 at Dalesburg Lutheran Church, rural Beresford. Visitation will be Thursday from 2PM to 8PM with family present from 6PM to 8PM at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford.

She was a life long member of Dalesburg Lutheran Church where she had taught Sunday school and served on the altar committee. Marcene was also a member of the Dalesburg Scandinavian Association. Her faith, family and friends were the most important to her. She enjoyed reading, visiting, family gatherings, reunions and researching family history. Marcene is survived by her parents; one sister, Darla (Eugene) Bult of Sioux Falls; two nieces, Andrea (Scott) Sukut and Megan Bult all of Sioux Falls and many relatives and friends.
