Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael Catholic Church, with the Rev. Lawrence McCarty officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., a rosary at 6 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at Larkin Northside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.

T.A. was born on Jan. 10, 1918, in Sioux City, the son of Thomas and Grace J. (Barrett) Beacom. He graduated from Central High School in 1936.

On June 28, 1941, he married Lorraine M. Bourassa in St. Peter Catholic Church, Jefferson, S.D. T.A. served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He landed on Omaha Beach in Normandy on D-Day and then fought in the Battle of Bastogne, Cherbourg, the Battle of the Bulge and Remagen. After his discharge, he returned to Sioux City and worked as a switchman for the Great Northern Railroad, retiring in 1979. Lorraine died on Sept. 14, 2005, in Sioux City.

T.A. was a member of the United Transportation Union, St. Michael Catholic Church and the St. Michael Holy Name Society. He was also involved with the first Lenten fish dinner served at the church and worked at them for many years. He did volunteer work with his wife at the Bargain Center. The most important part of his life was his family; he loved watching his kids and grandkids playing sports.

He is survived by sons and their wives, Thomas and Joy of Somers, Iowa, and Michael and Katie of Omaha; a daughter, Mary Claire Kenne and her husband, Michael of Altoona, Iowa; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a niece, Mary Joyce (Forney) Nelson of Spokane, Wash; his brother, Bart and wife, Joanne Beacom of Sioux Falls, S.D; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Beacom and Gabe Perry, both of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two granddaughters, Erica and Teri Beacom: two nieces, Colleen Forney and Barbara (Forney) Sitzmann; sister, Mary Clair Forney; and brothers, John, Henry and Giles.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons.

Memorials may be given to Holy Spirit Retirement Center or St. Michael Catholic Church.

Visitation will be 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday, with a Catholic Daughters of America rosary at 4 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at Larkin Northside Funeral Home.

Lorraine was born July 23, 1919, in Jefferson, S.D., the daughter of Phillip and Olive (Montagne) Bourassa. She was raised in Jefferson and graduated from Jefferson High School. She then moved to Sioux City, where she received her registered nursing degree from St. Joseph School of Nursing in 1940.

She married Thomas A. "T.A." Beacom on June 28, 1941, at St. Peter's Church in Jefferson. During World War II, the couple lived in Texas, Virginia and California. She worked as a registered nurse during the war years. After the war, they returned to Sioux City. She then was a homemaker for her husband and children. She also worked and volunteered at Villa Maria.

She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, the Altar Society, the Catholic Daughters of America Ave Maria Court 269 and the Catholic Women League. She was a volunteer at the Bargain Center. She was a volunteer at the Hallmark Care Center and led the rosary there for 12 years. She enjoyed sewing, reading and spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and extended family.

Survivors include her husband, T.A. Beacom of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Mary Claire and Michael Kenne of Altoona, Iowa; two sons and their wives, Thomas and Joy Beacom of Somers, Iowa, and Michael and Katie Beacom of Omaha;l a niece, Mary Joyce (Forney) Nelson of Spokane, Wash; two sisters, Irene Shearon and Gabrielle Perry; three brothers, Leo, Martin and Jerome "Bud" Bourassa; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two foster children.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two granddaughters, Erica and Teri Beacom; two nieces, Colleen Forney and Barbara (Forney) Sitzmann; three sisters, Delores Steinbeck, Monica Huguet and Ernestine Alsager; and three brothers, Vincent, Paul and Andrew Bourassa.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Memorials in her name may be directed to St. Michael's Catholic Church and the June E. Nylen Cancer Center.

Lester was born on April 4, 1934, in Grant County, Wisconsin, son of Raymond and Hazel (Butson) Goke. Lester graduated from Platteville High School and later from UW-Platteville with a degree in Agricultural Education. He was united in marriage to Sylvia Ann West in Granton, Wisconsin on June 17,1961. Sylvia preceded Lester in death on October 10, 2020. Lester worked for 33 years for the United States Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service, where he retired in 1989. His career started in southern Wisconsin. He went to work in Washington DC, National Office for many years and finished his career at the Michigan state office. Lester was an active member of the Lutheran Church of Peace, Platteville. He and Sylvia enjoyed traveling the world together, visiting 70 different countries and wintering in Florida for over 25 years. He made many lifelong friends throughout his traveling. Lester enjoyed golfing, gardening, a good game of cards and following Wisconsin sports teams. He liked to take care of the land and especially loved to spend time with his children and their families.

Lester is survived by his daughter, Ann Goke-Bonner, special son-in-law, Robert Bonner and their children, Christopher and Matthew; son, Jon (Kathleen) Goke and their children, Ryan (Jennifer) Goke, Dylan (Cassandra) Goke and Tyler Crowell; great-grandchildren, Sophia, Lucas, Charleigh, Alice and Hudson; sisters-in-law, Judy Goke and Florence (Fluff) Goke; Janice Voigt, Carol Walner along with many nieces and nephews. Lester was preceded in death by the love of his life, Sylvia, his parents, sister, Doris Barth and brothers, Roger, David and Gary Goke.

After school, Carol was united in marriage to the love of her life, Jim Johanneson, on October 15, 1966 and the couple settled on a farm northwest of Lake Andes where they farmed most of their married life. Their union of 53 years brought four children: Kristi, James, Tracy, and Mary. As a homemaker, Carol spent her days caring for everyone
around her. In her free time, one could find her partaking in the family tradition of Bingo or trying her chances at a casino. Carol’s greatest reward are her eleven Grandchildren and twenty-two Great Grandchildren.
Grateful for having shared her life are her children: Kristi Camack, James (Amelita) Johanneson, Tracy (Glenn) Sohl, and Mary (Chad) Schave; her brothers LeRoy Benda, Harlan (Ruth) Benda, Eldon Benda and sisters Dorothy Hallman and Lois (Cheryl) Benda.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, her parents, and brothers, Melvin, Richard and Robert Benda.

Interment will immediately follow the gathering at the Lakeview Cemetery, Lake Andes, SD.
